An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.
Out of a few contracting companies we contacted, we ended up choosing GarCon based on reviews on homestars, impression and most importantly their price. We are very satisfied with the team lead Larry assigned for our job. Work gets done nicely when he is around but we find work gets a bit sloppy when he isn't around to check on his guys. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with renovations so just 2 days out of the 2 weeks of demolition and rebuilding that my boyfriend was away, the guys finished the framing with bits and pieces of wood that does the job but not proper. Also, another suggestions for other is when demolishing an older home, you ALWAYS find surprises. Be prepared for it mentally and financially. Our place turns out to have hot water radiator rods in between the wall, some rods are old that can be remove and some are still in use. If we didn't put the demolishing on hold, we would have got charged another few grand to get those removed (and it does not include putting the rods back in). We end up finding another company to do that for less than half the price we were quoted from GarCon. No fault for GarCon but for homeowners on tight budget, do your shopping around and take your time.
