In a few short words; DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! AND DEFINITELY DON'T CONTRACT THEM TO DO ANY WORK THAT INCLUDES ANY INSTALLATION!!!
In mid December we contracted and gave a $1,000.00 deposit for this company to supply and install a set of frameless shower doors in our newly renovated master bathroom. A representative came in mid December and took measurements of the shower door opening area. The glass panels (doors) were to be ready for install in mid January 2013. At the end of January we called to find out what the current status was regarding the installation timing and were told that they would have to get back to us. In early February the doors were ready for installation. When they came to install, there were two men, one was their installation supervisor (Joe) with his helper (Joel). They commenced opening all the components and checking off the parts list to confirm everything was there.
They did not bring any drop cloths to put down over our brand new porcelain Carrera marble tiles as well as the new "Maxx" shower basin. As a result of this, they dropped components and caused chips in the floor tiles and the shower basin. Another very important item they didn't bring were any type of step stool to allow them to work at eye level where they needed to, which was an issue as the header bar for the doors was to be installed at approximately 78 inches above the floor level. They incorrectly drilled the holes in the wall for the header bar, which caused the door to keep rolling open. They had to make additional holes in the wall tiles to correct this, and they were unable to complete the installation as they incorrectly cut the header bar (twice) and could no longer use it so they had to re-order a new one. Approximately 1-2 weeks later they came back to complete the installation. After the install was complete, and we finally got to use our new shower, it leaked! Not just a little, a lot! We were unaware that they should have added a plastic water guard strip between the two doors. We also ended up needing a strip along the bottom of the door, and the front of the door. Their lead installer Joe admitted to us that this was only the 2nd set of this type of shower doors they had ever installed and he didn't know how to fix the leakage problem! We had to basically tell them how to fix it and they had to have the door guide modified to accommodate the bottom door seal. Although the doors no longer leak, the strip along the bottom rubs against the door guide as they did not install the door guide straight, and as a result the bottom door seal is being slowly shaven away where it rubs against the door guide on one side. Shower Door Canada was supposed to drop off an additional strip for us to keep as a back up. To date, we have not received it! Since they have the balance of their money, it's most likely we will never see it! Toni, one of the principal owners of Shower Door Canada insisted on being paid the balance owing before he would even solve our leakage problem, and provide the additional bottom door strip, basically holding us hostage, collecting our money before the issues were resolved! Very Poor Customer Service to say the least!!!!
Update Sept. 2013: To this date we have not received the spare bottom door seal as promised by Tony from Shower Door Canada , and we have now found the shower guard glass on the sliding door is on the wrong side of the glass as they originally thought when they arrived to install the system; as well the door continues to slide slightly out of alignment.
Just to be sure everyone understands we were never in consultation with this "Joe" the "Install Manager"; nor was he ever at our home to see the site and requirements as was stated by "Tony" until after they arrived to complete the install and even at that time he did not raise any concerns until they had made errors and multiple drill holes in our wall tiles for the upper track rail. Then they laid blame on the door system.
