Frameless shower glass for our neo-angled shower base
Hired Mark at Ontario Custom Glass to supply and install the frameless shower glass for our neo-angled shower base. I should have searched forums like this one first! Firstly, he kept insisting that no-one has to be home for the install… -Big flag here people. Secondly, he mixed up the shower door with that of another customer’s, and when Mark came back to install the door, he didn’t have the proper hinge gaskets that he previously installed on the supporting glass panel. –These were a nice black non-intrusive, almost invisible hinge gasket. The gasket he used on the door was an ugly white, in-your-face, jaggedly cut like he made them on the spot with dull scissors… -Just plain cheap and very unprofessional looking. There were only eight hinge screws required for the installation but it was as if Mark had to rummage through the bottom of his tool box to find something to use, not having the proper hardware. –Very disorganized. The few screws that were meant for the hinges were stripped of their Philips screw heads during installation as if installed with a power drill, and over-torqued. The remaining screws were a variety of types, materials, and colours –not to suit the hinge finish or material. Unfortunately, we did not see, nor recognize this until he was paid and out the door. Going forward, I’ll hang onto the balance until the job is thoroughly inspected and meets my expectations. I called him a total of sixteen times. At first, he seemed understanding and told me that his helper messed up and that it’ll only take him five minutes to change the gaskets and screws. The other fifteen times he just made one excuse after the other, zero accountability. The shower door became loose to the point that it was rubbing on the glass panel opposite the hinges. This was a very serious deficiency on several levels. The time he spent telling me all his excuses would have covered the five minutes (several times over) that he told me it would take to resolve! Folks, do yourself a favour check forums like this one first. There are better contractors out there. Mark at Ontario Custom Glass is just a bad apple.
