I took my 5 yr old Miele in for servicing after it stopped running and just would not start. I was contemplating ditching it and just getting a new one when the sales person at Vacuum King explained that the cord had been whipped in a few too many times, breaking the cord rewinder. It was a simple repair, but still cost $100 for a second-hand rewinder to be put in. I had brought it to a different vacuum shop where the owner had told me the same thing and the same price but had walked over due to the filthy and terrible run-down interior that left me less than confident that my vacuum would be well taken care of. At Vacuum King, I was in a clean and bright showroom. They not only fixed the unit, but also completely cleaned it and replaced the dirty filter (showed me how to change it which I had never done!) and gave me a new box of bags, worth about $20. That earned my repeat business right there.

A family of raccoons took up residency on my roof after my neighbor screened off their home. A call to Gates resulted in a reasonable estimate and a quick appointment. At first I had a call back to say that the technician wasn't coming because there was an emergency at another client's site, but, to my relief, he pulled up less than 30 minutes after I was told he wasn't coming. The technician was polite, helpful and reassuring, and I felt quite confident having him screen off the entry point the raccoons were using. It's been 7 months and so far, even with the spring season, no sign of their return. Good job, well done.

I strongly recommend Andrew and his team (Ian and Al, and his friendly dad, Rob) to anyone looking for a tree service performed. First of all, Andrew came out to do a quote and obtained an exemption from the City for me for my tree removal. He did this for FREE, ie without any request for money or to engage his services. I had three other tree companies tell me that there was no way that the City would grant an exemption and two of the three wanted $100-$200 to write the arborist report to send to the city if I did decide to request the exemption. Andrew's work saved me at least $700, not to mention the arborist report. Second, his quote was very reasonable. This was probably what got my husband's attention. Third, his team was extremely courteous, efficient, and clean. I mean, they cleaned up my yard, my NEIGHBOR's yard (who does that these days?), and of course, all the debris from the tree removal. Fourth, they were on time and came within the time frame we agreed upon. Finally, Andrew came back, when I had a request to do some more stump grinding, and did a great job. There are few people that go the distance to really make you feel like you are a valued client. Andrew is one of those people.
