I was charged $200.00 for a programable thermostat. Just the thermostat not the labor or tax etc. Later I looked online and could not find the exact same model selling for any more than about $60.00! When I called the manager of the company to inquire about the huge mark up I was told It was buyer beware and they could charge what they wanted. I had previously had a washable furnace filter installed which I now see was double the price of buying it at a store. So BUYER BEWARE!!

Hi Carmen,
Unfortunately there has been some confusion regarding the charges for the service call to your home in Airdrie on Sept 18 2012. The fee of $129 was a service fee to cover the travel time involved making a trip to your home, and is quite standard in the industry. This fee is also disclosed and agreed upon prior to booking a technician to your home.
The $200 that was charged for your thermostat did in fact cover the equipment itself, as well as the labor involved to install it, including any electrical wiring and adjustments that needed to be made during the transition from the old thermostat to the new.
The wiring and installation of thermostats is confusing for many people, and improperly installed devices can cause a plethora of problems with heating and cooling systems. This is why many consumers choose to hire professionals for their installation needs.
We trust that your installation was performed with the highest standards, and will continue to service your needs for the foreseeable future.
Thank you for taking the time to contact us, and for the opportunity to clear up any confusion regarding our billing practices.
