It's often difficult just to get tradesman to show up and give you a written quote. No such problem here. I got a written quote, the crew showed up on time at 9:00 and shook hands and introduced themselves. They did a beautiful job and were done by noon. They even cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave a mess. Very professional and a lovely job.

The person who built this house used a hot water heater to supply hot water to a radiant floor heating system. It was set up wrong and the hot water heater eventually burned out from short cycling. Alex from OHBCS was the only contractor out of about 6 who showed up who correctly identified that I couldn't put in a high efficiency boiler due to the small gas feed line. They replaced the hot water heater, vented it properly to the outside, separated the radiant floor water loop from the drinking water in the tank with a proper non-ferrous pump and heat exchanger. They were knowledgeable, efficient, and stuck to the budget they had provided. Everyone else was trying to sell me a wall mount high efficiency boiler that wouldn't have worked do to lack of sufficient volume of gas. Current solution works and my water doesn't taste terrible anymore. There was one small problem with the hookup of the thermostat, but they came back quickly and fixed it with no grumbling or additional charges.

The attic at the front of my renovated house used to be the top floor of a storey and a half bungalow. GeoFocus came in and vacuumed out the old insulation. It was obvious then why the house was cold. The tops of the walls were open to the attic, and there were holes everywhere. I could see diagonally into the ceiling of my kitchen. It was a nightmare. Great Northern Insulation followed the GeoFocus guys in and spray foamed the attic walls and floor, sealing all the gaps in the walls and gaps leading into the house below. They then followed up with a 3rd crew to blow in another foot of loose fibreglass insulation. They gave me time between visits to get the electrical and duct work in the attic cleaned up before they came back with the spray foam. Everyone on each of the three teams was polite and workman like. I think the work was good value for money.
