It began to deteriorate right away. After less than a year the sofa was COMPLETELY DESTROYED; stuffed with bed springs and bits of foam, lumpy, uneven, and ripped to shreds. Extremely badly constructed. LaVie REFUSED to honour their warrantee instead offering me "a better deal on a new one". Refusing to honour a warrantee is ILLEGAL! If you don't want a sofa that costs two thousand dollars or more but lasts LESS THAN A YEAR, Do not purchase from this company as your money will be completely wasted. If you choose to challenge them you will have no choice but to sue them. I don't know who Jason is as I have never spoken with him. He says he knows me but calls me "he", "him" in the letter, I am a woman! He says that my pets tore up my sofa, I HAVE NO PETS, this is pure fabrication! He says that I reported the damage after the warrantee ended but this absolutely untrue, and I have a visa bill to prove this. Unlike he says, I did not have a "budget" but CHOSE not to have a leather sofa. Yan, the sales person who sold me this shoddy product NEVER warned me against purchasing Vinyl, he was very pleased to accept my money. Also, he no longer works for the company, apparently for a while now. I spent over $1,700 on this piece, as my Visa bill will attest NOT $1,400 as “Jason says”. The technician who attended my home seems to be the same person who answered this letter, not a third party at all. He acknowledged that the seats were uneven and that they seemed to be stuffed with bed springs but clearly no one did anything about it. Jason you may be “a human being” but one that refuses to honour La Vie’s warrantee. I will ensure that all of this information is spread widely across the net.

Company Response

This is Jason from La Vie Furniture. I think who you are. This customer ordered a Full Vinyl couch on July 2011. We told him that Vinyl is not covered by any warranty and we suggested him to choose Leather one but he had a budget to work with and he insisted to buy in vinyl. This customer made first complaint to us after one year. And our warranty only covers for one year. Even not in warranty, we still sent our technician to his house to see if we can do something to help him. Our third party technician went to his house and did inspection and inspection report shows the couch was be abused heavily by the customer and his pets. We understand how important customer service is and we respond for every claim or problem and we follow common sense and provide reasonable care. In the case like this, customer reported the problem too late which caused this couch unrepairable and Vinyl is a very weak material and it is no suggested to use on the seating area and it is not covered by warranty and you agreed and signed one year ago. I have a question to this customer: It was your choice to make it in vinyl and signed for it on our sales contract and it was your choice to report the problem after warranty expiration date and you did save 900$ when purchasing and you didn't pay us for 2000$ but 1450 $, if you are the merchant and I am you in this case, what will you do to make a better result? But anyway, this case was taken care by myself and I believed we did every possible actions to help this customer. I hope you guys can feel that we are human beings not machine and we do care about our customers.
