Total rework or our pool, including the installation of stamped concrete for the pool area.
The crew is good, however the quality of materials used is inferior and has failed with-in the first year, with much more concrete deterioration the following year. We hired Krystal Klear for the pool liner work and also got a quote for the stamped concrete work. We had entertained stamped concrete companies to do this work and have the pool liner installed by Krystal Klear Pools. The owner assured us that they were very good at doing this work and we even looked some projects we were told were installed by his company. In the end we decided to work with Krystal Klear Pools. It made sense to use one company for the netire project. The project involved a 20 x 40 pool liner replacement, removing concrete skirting and removing our 15 year old cedar deck. The entire yard short of the pool cavity would be excavated and reworked to provide several levels of stamped concrete with a harbor theme. The area to be excavated and reworked to stamped concrete would be approxiately 2000 square ft.+or -. The crew worked well and hard. There were some errors in the final project, however the over-all project looked good. I noted the stamped concrete only had the colour material put onto the concrete and then stamped ,rather than mixed into the concrete. Again, not knowing different, the job looked good when finished. That fall we saw the first of many cracks in the main concrete deck and the following spring we found more cracks and flaking of the surface exposing non-coloured concrete. We asked the owner to come out and this was difficult at best. Excuse after excuse and finally on site, what do you want me to do about it? We pointed out we had just spent and paid him a huge amount of money to build our dreamback yard, and we expected that they repair the most damaged of the concrete work at his expense. h epromised to do this and at the same time we obtained quotes from stamped concrete specialists to see what needed to be done/replaced. These professionals reviewed the work and they indicated repair was not possible, the deck would need to be replaced. Krystal Klear Pools refuses to stand behind their work and we now have to replace the concrete on the upper deck and deal with all the cracks in the large lower deck. I am writing this article as I do not want any-one else to fall to the same poor workmanship/poor selction in in materials and most importantly not to deal with someone that will not stand behind their work. We understand that not all jobs go well, however I also know as a professional you back what you sell ,especially if it is your finsihed product that failed as a result of your workmanship or the materials that you chose to supply. This can happen,it is how you handle the problem and rectify the situation that determines what kind of a company that you represent/own. Again in closing,we enjoyed the crew, but are not at all happy with the company!
