My house was built in 1994 with wood frame windows. After many years of sanding/painting/priming it was time to replace 15 windows and patio door. I had 4 quotes, James MacKay provided the one that was was most cost effective. Windows were replaced in March 2014, but I wanted to get through a summer and a winter to make sure I was happy with them and there were no issues that arose before reviewing. Immediately I noticed a reduction in the outside noise that we could hear in the house, it is *so* much quieter. I do not have A/C so windows were opened and closed all summer with continued smooth operation. Screens removed easily for cleaning, athough screen material does not appear to be overly durable. I was very specific with what I wanted, emailing James several times with questions for clarification and things went smoothly. Once windows were ready, installers worked steadily and when they were finished in a room, I did not even know they had replaced the windows they did such a great job cleaning up. I did recommend Window Choice to a friend last summer and they had their windows replaced. I believe there were issues with the person who measured for installation arriving without an appointment when the owners were at work and only family guests in the house. My understanding is the person measuring for installation was very persistent at gaining access to the house when the owner would have preferred they come back another time when the owners were home, and my friend made a point of telling me how upset they were by this. The installer had casement windows installed on my friend's covered porch where I might have put hung windows so the windows do not interfere with people sitting/moving around on the deck, so do be careful that you give thought to how you will be using the space and what windows will work best for you, because that is something I would have been very disappointed with. Also, I do not recall receiving any follow up after, which would have been nice, but I know where to reach them if I need them.

We had used Hugh for our home move a few years ago and we are moving parents from their house to assisted living. Hugh was very accommodating with the various changes in plans that we needed, and stepped in with extra help when we informed him that a medical emergency a few days before the move would keep us from being able to be fully packed. We arranged to have him help us with packing, and he was very conscious of what belongings might help our parents be more comfortable in their new apartment. As he was pacing items for donation, there were several times he brought us pictures and mementos that had personal inscriptions from family and friends so they could go to the apartment instead, and he made sure our parents more precious items were packed especially carefully. In a stressful situation, I am so thankful we were working with such a caring professional and his team.

I understand they are a charity and do good work, but often their prices are very close to retail, and when I asked the clerk at the counter, she said items were final sale. I think they forget that so many families are struggling in the current economy and many of us are trying to find creative ways to make our dollars go farther. I am a single mom of 2 who was working 2 jobs and got downsized out of one of them. I often leave the store with a bad taste in my mouth because even though I search out cost effective ways to maintain my home out of necessity, I end up leaving empty handed because I still can't afford the prices they're asking for DONATED, often previously used/reclaimed materials. It's a shame they don't embrace the opportunity to help many who are in the broader community around them by being even just a little more conscious of the financial climate when they're doing their pricing.

A good friend referred Hugh. He came to our home and gave us an estimate and helpful tips to make things go smoother and keep the cost within our budget. We did get other rates but Hugh gave us a good price and came recommended he showed up on time and had us loaded and ready to go until We had a problem with the key transfer but Hugh was so easy to work with and so understanding with the delay even though it made for a very long day. I did have trouble locating him initially because he is doing more business in southwestern Ontario and the phone number had changed, but he can be reached at getmovingcanada at gmail dot com. I have already passed his name on to my cousin and would definitely call him if we plan to move again.
