3/10

Called Clearview because of the good reviews- it was a saturday and my furnace had stopped working. Dispatch/lady was polite - said it was 99.00 charge to come out on the weekend to diagnose issue rather then 69.00 on regular work day (due to after hrs charge). The guy came on time, was clean and was friendly. He diagnosed the issue with no problems - then proceded to give a quote to repair. Now the 2 issues were as follows. #1. The 99.00 was just to come out, and did NOT include diagostics as I was led to believe. I even said to the lady on the phone that 99 was reasonable since Enmax charges 189 for coming out and inspecting after hrs. The repair man added 109 (inspection fee) on top of the 99.00 to make it 208.00 (pricier then enmax services). My advise is to the reception is to be more clear when explaining what after hour rates include. #2. The quote to replace the part was $850.00, which to me seemed steep for one part and in my estimation not more then 1 hrs effort. I asked why it was so much, he said that it included 1 service. At any rate, due to my price concern and thankfully the fact he did not have the part we did not fix it through clearview. I ended up buying the part for 139.00 and replaced it in 1/2 hr. A bit concerning when the quote was $850 (less the diagnostic charge if we fixed through them)..so $740...for something that should probably not been quoted more then 200 (including markup for the aprt and) 1 hrs labor - 100.00 maximum during regular hours. They are competent in troubleshooting and nice, but I would not recommend to my mother or anyone that I would not want to get overcharged for the work they do.....

Approximate cost of services:
$218.00
