This review is one of a complimentary nature. My wife and I had a couch and loveseat that was purchased back at a time when quality products were produced. The construction was solid and built well. They needed to be cleaned. A cleaning professional attended at our home and following his review, indicated that the soiled fabric was beyond repair. We then commenced our HOMESTARS search for an upholstery company with positive reviews. We settled on ALO UPHOLSTERY and INTERIORS. We contacted Terri, the company administrator by phone and she requested we take a photo of the two pieces of furniture and forward them to her. Following her request, we attended at their office and met Terri. We found Terri to be a very personable and knowledgeable with respect to furniture and fabrics. She made her fabric recommendation and displayed a few samples from their large selection of possible fabrics. My wife and I listened to her suggestions and made our decision. Terri gave us an appraisal for the cost of covering both pieces of furniture and indicated if there were any hidden problems with the furniture she would contact us. A date was arranged to pick up the furniture. Terri emailed us with a pick up time and they were on time to take our couch and loveseat away. We met Darren and his father who, by the way has been in the furniture business in one form or another for many years. He gave us his assurance that he and his son could fix and repair any problem that was found. After speaking with the elder member of the family we were assured that the project would be completed on time. Terri contacted us when the job was completed. It was ON TIME AND ON BUDGET and arranged to have the furniture returned to our home. When they arrived at our home, my wife and I examined the finish products. Their work was nothing short of impeccable. The workmanship was immaculate. We could tell that Darren and his father took great pride in their work by examining the final results. We were so impressed with their work that we contacted Terri and requested that ALO UPHOLSTERY and INTERIORS recover two (somewhat dated) wing chairs. Once again they attended at our home, picked up the chairs and returned them a few weeks later in new and pristine condition. If you, the reader have furniture that is somewhat dated but still has "good bones" I would not hesitate to recommend that you look no further than ALO UPHOLSTERY. Their pricing is reasonable. What you pay depends on the quality of the fabric you choose but you can be assured that the workmanship is top quality and when your furniture is returned to you, you will be impressed beyond belief. This company values the customer, the work they do and want to please everyone that contracts them to recover their furniture. All elements that appear to be lost in today's society. It is satisfying to know that there are still a few companies that put the customer first and ALO UPHOLSTERY is one such company. If you make the decision to contact ALO UPHOLSTERY and INTERIORS I can assure you that you will be as satisfied with the end result as my wife and I are. After speaking with Alan at the head office and receiving a quote for the cleaning my white sofa and loveseat and the cleaning of the hall runner and runner up the staircase, a time and date was arranged. Richard, the company technician with 18 years experience arrived at my home on the date and time arranged. My wife and I explained to Richard what we needed done. He immediately examined the white sofa and loveseat and asked when was the last time the furniture was cleaned professionally. We told him about 5 or 6 years ago and further that we purchased the furniture back in 1991. He noted that the stains were deep rooted and not likely to be eradicated even with his professional cleansers and equipment. Richard explained that he would try and if the stains came out he would continue with the remainder of the furniture. After setting up his equipment and attempting to remove the stains he noted and we agreed that the stains were too deeply rooted and impossible to remove. Richard said it was worth a try and because he could not remove the stains with industrial cleaners and professional equipment, we would not have to pay. He then looked at the hall runner and stated we would have to move the runner to an area without hardwood flooring. We moved the runner to the garage with its cement floor. Richard then cleaned the runner. With regards to the runners on the hardwood stairs, he stated he could not clean the runner based on the fact that the runner was tacked to the hardwood staircase and if applied the cleanser liquid to the runner on the staircase he would damage the hardwood. My wife and I were exceptionally impressed with Richard's expertise and professionalism. He had the well being of our home in mind when he decided to perform the tasks for which he was hired. He and his employer, CANADIAN STEAM CARPET CLEANING could not perform the work that we thought could be accomplished. We had no idea that the sofa and love seat were so stained and well beyond repair. The furniture was purchased in 1991 and over the years of wear and tear, we came to the realization that "nothing lasts forever" We will be purchasing a new sofa and loveseat and carpet runners in the future and I can assure you that when the cleaning of the aforementioned is required, I will be contacting CANADIAN STEAM CARPET CLEANING to handle the tasks. The company has been in business for over 40 years and it is quite evident that they are still a viable and profitable company based on their performance and attention to customer service. Ronen, Appliances Service Technician from TOTAL CARE APPLIANCE REPAIR attended at my home to install a 30" KITCHENAID wall oven. We spoke on the phone and agreed to a time and fee for his service. I advised him that the new oven was to be delivered by Home Depot and once that had occurred, I would contact him to confirm the time and date for the installation. Ronen was very punctual arriving on the date and time we had agreed upon. He practiced safe visitation wearing his mask during the installation process. I found him to be quite proficient, personable and knowledgeable with regards to his specialized field of appliance repair and installation. Due to the weight of the oven, moving the appliance needed two people. I assisted Ronen with the lifting of the oven and placing it into the cabinet. Ronen took command of the remainder of the task affixing the oven to the cabinet, attaching the bottom vent and then installing the oven door. The power was restored and the oven worked as expected. Ronen remained on site to ensure that the oven was working properly. The job was completed in less than one hour. While he waited for the oven to complete the various features to ensure there were no problems he told me that he was specifically trained in the repair of many different types of appliances such as refrigerator, washer and dryer and dishwashers. I will definitely call him again should the need arise. He is punctual, very accomplished in the filed of appliance repair and quoted a fair price during our initial contact. A good man to know when appliances need repair. Thanks again Ronen.

My wife and I have a fireplace that was purchased and installed 20 years ago and now in a bad way. It needed replacing or certainly repaired. The question facing us at that time was buy new or repair the old. The added challenge was finding someone that was knowledgeable enough and with fair pricing to complete the task. My research revealed to purchase a new fireplace with installation, would cost me somewhere in the vicinity of $5000. plus tax. (I spoke with three different fireplace installation companies and they were relatively the same regarding their quotes). I researched HOMESTARS and found GAS FIREPLACE SERVICES &REPAIR. I placed a call to the sole proprietor of the company Mr. Imran EMAMDEE. He invited me to take a photo or two of the interior of the fireplace. I did so and emailed them off to him. He contacted me to arrange a visit. He attended at my home and I noticed that he respected our home. He took off his shoes at the door and brought a blanket to spread out in front of the fireplace. He dismantled the fireplace cleaning everything with his vacuum. He advised me that the fireplace was in need of sensors and valves and gave me an estimate of what the repair would cost if it was to work as it did when it was new. I told Inram I was prepared to pay for the additional parts if he could assure me that the fireplace would work like new when he completed his work. He gave me that assurance. He took the fireplace chassis away with him to facilitate additional work on it in his shop. A few days later he returned with the chassis. I noticed that he had replaced essentially everything. New wires, valves, sensors, cleaned and painted. He performed many tasks that I doubt other larger installers would undertake. He cleaned out the gas line and touched up the interior with spray paint. During his time at my home he explained to me that he has been in the fireplace business both in Canada and abroad for over thirty years in all phases such as engineering, building, design, installation and repair. His knowledge of the operation of a fireplace was quite evident as I watched him repair my unit. When completed, he invited me to call my wife into the room to enable her the pleasure of viewing the repaired fireplace. He added a few things to the fireplace (that you will have to ask him about) that enhanced the operation of the flame. Quite simply, the fireplace worked better after 20 years that it did when it was new. Inram is a rare individual. He is personable and qualified well beyond expectations. I am suggesting that there is quite simply no one in the field of fireplace service and repair as qualified and with as much experience and expertise as Mr. Inram Emamdee. I must caution the reader however that this man is in high demand. He works long hours with current and potential customers calling him from all over Ontario. If you are fortunate enough to have this man attend at your home you will be amazed with the vast amount of knowledge he possesses in the field of fireplace service and repair. His pricing is fair and his service is exceptional. My wife and I are so pleased with his work and the finished product. Hopefully we can get him back to the house in a few years to service our unit. Thank you Inram for a job well done and what you did was totally beyond our expectations.

Thanks God, For I was able to disassemble it to bare steel and replace all new parts, sanding and repainting with several coats of high temperature paint to make it as new. You did not have to spend 5 or 6 thousand dollars for a new one. Like everything now the newer one are not any better. The older fireplace if maintain, service they last longer. The quality and steel gauge are better. At Gas Fireplace Services And Repairs we do quality work and stand behind our services strive to meet or exceed customers expectation. This is the second time we have utilized the services offered by Majesty Renovations. On the first occasion Greg and his partner Dan completely gutted and installed two new bathrooms replacing and installing all new plumbing, lighting and vanities. The porcelain tile work was nothing short of amazing. On this occasion my wife and I needed our laundry room reconfigured to receive our new washer/dryer and vanity with a sink. The plumbing was moved and the room redesigned to accommodate the washer/dryer and vanity. They removed the old peel and stick tiles and replaced it with porcelain tiles in both rooms. The new washer/dryer, toilet and vanity was installed and working to perfection. The project was completed in a timely fashion and on budget. We just can't say enough about their abilities, their work ethic and their desire to complete the job flawlessly. Words cannot effectively describe the quality of work they do. Greg and Dan have been working together for a number of years and it shows as they take great pride in their accomplishments. The winner in each case is the home owner. It is very difficult these days to find a contractor that can do it all. They complete the job on time and within the budget arranged at the start of the project. MAJESTY RENOVATIONS is such a company. It is really nice to know that there is a company "out there" that can do it all with two men that take great pride in the finished project. In a few years we will be renovating our kitchen and I can state beyond a shadow of a doubt that we will be contracting MAJESTY RENOVATIONS to complete that job because we will need it done right, on time and on budget. Thanks Greg and Dan for a job well done. Our laundry room and powder rooms look great.

During the initial installation of my furnace I was given a White Rodgers humidifier. It worked for one year. I called a technician and he installed a new regulator. That regulator lasted another year and seized up once again. Time for a new more advanced humidifier. I placed a call to Air Makers Inc. The office arranged for their technician (Brentt) to attend my home a few days later. Brentt dismantled the old and installed a new Aprilaire in a short period of time. He examined the completed job to ensure no water leakage resulted in his work. He then went on to explain the proper operation of the unit, the settings needed for a comfortable home and where to secure a new water pad when required. All in all a job well done by a very intelligent and professional technician that is very knowledgeable in his field. I would highly recommend Air Makers.

I had a problem with the functioning of my garage door opener and called Steve from Maple Leaf during the summer months of 2019. He installed two new springs. I was so impressed with his work ethc then so when I needed a new garage door opener I called him for help. I told Steve that I had a Linear motor installed in 2003. He advised me that the life expectancy of that motor had expired and I neeed a new Chamberlan motor. He quoted me a price for the motor along with installation and arrived the next day to install the new system. He appeared at my door as promised and one hour later I was good to go. He updated my two automobile Universal garage door openers and we were back in business. Steve quite simply is the kind of repair man you need to resolve any of your garage door issues. He is intelligent, efficient, personable with a great work ethic. His price quotes are quite fair and I have no reason whatsoever to call anyone else to handle any of my garage door issues.

I examined the reviews for MAPLE LEAF GARAGE DOORS on Homestars and decided to call Steve. He responded quickly and told me he could do the job the next day. He told me even though only one spring had snapped, he recommended that I replace both springs because of the eventuality that the second spring would break soon after the first. He stated that the life of a garage door spring is rated at 15000 activations. I listened to his advice and decided to replace both springs. He called me the next day and indicated he would be able to complete the job that afternoon. He arrived as promised and completed the job in an expedient and professional fashion. He obviously was well versed in his field and I would strongly recommend Steve and MAPLE LEAF GARAGE DOORS for your garage door installation and repairs. I was quite satisfied with the work the fees charged and the manner in which he completed the job.

I suspect if you are reading this post, you are in search of a GOOD, RELIABLE, TRUSTWORTHY, and most of all a COMPETANT contractor. It is a challenge for those wishing to hire a contractor. My wife and I have utilized the services of HOMESTARS in the past and following in-depth reviews, we have been fortunate and found good contractors in many different trades. We attended at the Toronto Home Show in March 2018 with the hopes of finding and speaking with a contractor to install interlocking stones and pave the driveway. We found three but KINGSWAY PAVING and INTERLOCK was the company we chose. We spoke with Joseph and told him what we wanted done. He said his company could handle the job. Joseph came to the house, listened to our plan and he in turn made suggestions that were both economical and functional. He gave us a price that was within our budget and indicated he would start the job in May or June depending on the weather. I spoke with the neighbours on both sides, told them what we had planned and they demonstrated an interest in speaking with Joseph to receive his input and a quote. Everyone agreed to have the work done. Two houses had their driveways paved and everyone decided to have interlocking stones installed between the houses. My wife and I decided to have flagstone installed on our front porch as well as the other work I mentioned previously. Joseph advised us what to expect and everyone agreed on the colour and make of the stone. About two weeks before the scheduled start date, we travelled to Brampton Brick to see a sample of the interlocking stone. After viewing the stones we decided to change our mind and ultimately picked a different stone. I called Joseph to tell him about the change and he indicated there was no problem with making the change as long as everyone involved was happy. We received frequent calls from Joseph advising of our start date and to be prepared. The crew arrived and what a crew it was. There was about eight workers supervised by Angelo. Joseph was also in attendance. Each member of the crew knew precisely what to do and were always and constantly on the go. I was simply amazed at the attention to detail that each worker possessed. The cutting of the interlock and the building of garden boxes and stairs was unbelievable. The assembly of all the pieces in the end demonstrated their focus and attention to detail. Everyone that contracted the services of KINGSWAY PAVING AND INTERLOCK were completely satisfied with both the price of the job and the services received by such a competent group of workers. At the end of the two day session the yards were cleared and swept down. I realize how difficult it is to secure the services of a good and reliable contractor. I can tell you with no hesitation that if you contact Joseph at Kingsway Paving and Interlock, your contractor anxiety and doubt will be a thing of the past. Kingsway Paving is a company that has been in business for a number of years predominantly because they honour their promises, they do excellent work in a timely fashion and treat the customer with respect.

My wife and I decided to renovate out main and ensuite bathrooms. We were in need of a competent contractor and valued advice as to what we needed in the way of plumbing supplies. We had plans of installing a whirlpool tub, shower fixtures, doors and deck faucets and two toilets. We had previous dealings with Dupont Plumbing Supplies so we opted to return. We met with Frank and he spent a few hours with us assisting us with our selections. We advised Frank that we would be away from the home while the contractor installed all the fixtures so he arranged delivery of the items to our home prior to our departure. The items were delivered on time and brought into our home. We can not say enough about the service and advice given during our renovation project. We found Frank to be extremely knowledgeable about the various products on hand in the showroom and he freely offered his advice on products of value and other cost saving initiatives. Quite simply we are so happy that we returned to Frank and Dupont Plumbing. Our two bathrooms look wonderful and the products all perform as promised. All in all a great experience. Thanks Frank for your attention to detail making our renovation project a complete success.

Assisted Review

An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.

My wife and I decided to renovate our main and ensuite bathrooms and needed the services of a qualified and dependable contractor. We realized that there were many contracting companies that would promise everything and deliver very little. So the anxiety associated with getting the right contractor became quite evident. We invited various contractors to our home and had them give us an estimate on the job and the projected time line. We met with Greg from Majesty Renovations. We learned that he had been in the business for a number of years and therefore very experienced in the field. We told Greg what we would like done and he in turn made his suggestions to ensure a successful project. We indicated that we wanted him to totally gut both bathrooms and install wall and floor tile, remove a bulkheads above both showers, install a whirlpool tub with additional electrical to the main box, wall lighting, install vanities and the plumbing associated to the washrooms. He also installed ceiling fans and new doors. Quite simply Majesty Renovations was a one stop shop and did all that was required. Greg advised us that the timeline projected would be three weeks and as such the water supply would need to be disrupted. We advised Greg that we would like to give him the key to the house and have him perform the work while we were out of the country. Greg stated that more and more of his customers were adopting that procedure. Prior to leaving we attended at a plumbing supply outlet and purchased our tub, taps and toilets. We then attended an electrical supply centre and selected the lighting for the washrooms and finally to a tile outlet and selected our floor and wall tiles. (Greg had a contact person for discounted prices on the tiles). We had all the items delivered to the home prior to the job start date and when Greg needed the items 2 for installation, they were there on hand. When we returned from our three week holiday Majesty Renovations had completed the work and to a remarkable degree of precision. Everything was installed just the way we had expected. When my wife examined the work under close scrutiny she could find absolutely nothing wrong with the work and was impressed that the house was cleared of dirt and debris and the garbage bin had been removed from the driveway. If you are reading this review, I imagine you are searching for a competent and reliable contractor that is true to his word and you probably possess some degree of anxiety after hearing horror stories about contractors that either over charge or collect and do not complete the job. Our experience with Greg and Majesty Renovations was totally anxiety free. Quite simply he does what he says he will do and within the time constraints as well as staying within the budget identified at the time of signing the contract. You may also want to speak with Greg regarding the tax saving incentives offered by the Ontario government. No other contractor we spoke with indicated that there was tax incentives associated to items installed in the home. In closing I will state that it is no secret why Majesty Renovations has been in business for so many years. Greg is trustworthy, reliable and true to his word. He gets the job done within the time allotted and at a fair price. Thanks again Greg for your specialized attention to detail.

Mike Brown's Contracting was contacted as a result from a referral from Oakville based company. Mike Brown attended at my home, appraised the work to be done and had his staff perform the work shortly thereafter. The chimney needed eight courses of brick and was repaired by extremely qualified personnel. Cement block parging was required for another area on a walkout from the basement and along the side of the garage. The block was sanded and parged. Once again the work was expertly done and in a timely manner. Clean up was done and the job was completed over a two day period. Bottom line...the work was performed by qualified personnel, the job site was left clean and the price for the job was very reasonable in fact it was a win win for everyone. I would have no hestitation in recommending Mike Brown Contracting for any residental masonry or cement work.
