Adam Johns, the owner of Top Shelf, approached me in the fall of 2018 through a door-to-door marketing campaign focused on project development opportunities for the spring. Adam approached me again in April 2019, and provided me with a detailed written quote for three rooms that included a specific room-by-room work plan. I was so pleased with the quality work his paint crew delivered that I expanded the scope of the contract from 3 rooms to include painting the kitchen cabinets, the living room, the basement hall and bath. Although all of the rooms included extensive wood trim originally covered in oil-based paint, his paint crew used a transition primer that allowed the woodwork to be painted with latex. Adam monitored the project closely and provided me with updates on the progress of the project. The painters who worked on this project were extremely polite and completed the project quickly without creating disruption or mess in a busy household; each of the newly painted rooms in my family’s home reflects the exceptional care and pride his painters took in completing this project on time and on budget.

If you can imagine all of the complexities and surprises that one could encounter with renovating the original bathroom in a house that was built in 1939, it’s particularly difficult to imagine a renovation where the project was delivered on time, on budget and was hassle free, and yet that was our experience with Lampert Plumbing. After first obtaining several quotes from other providers, we decided to contract with Lampert Plumbing, which had quickly provided a quotation for all phases of the work, including all of the supplies and fixtures. It’s easy dealing with Lampert, as their show room has all of the supplies required, which allowed us to pick the style of the fixtures, including the floor and wall tiles. Their workman did an excellent job, using the best quality materials. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lambert Plumbing, as we are completely satisfied with our every aspect of this project.

With a limited budget, we wanted to find a way to renovate our 70-year-old kitchen to give us more storage space and an updated feel; however, we did not want to rip out all of the existing wooden cabinetry and replace it with the cookie-cutter, particle-board cabinetry that is all too common in kitchen renovations. We were very fortunate to find Malcolm (Skip) McGrath, whose workmanship provided upgrades that exceeded our expectations. He designed and built a cabinet for the sink area with storage that allows us to sort and store our grey-bin and blue-bin garbage; the cabinet also includes pull-out drawers for food storage. Skip also increased the functionality of our adjoining breakfast nook by creating a floor-to-ceiling pantry, a built-in bookcase and a large wrap-around seating area that provides a combination breakfast bar and computer station. All of the cabinetry that Skip built matches perfectly the existing cabinetry in our kitchen, complementing our original kitchen design. Skip uses only the best-quality material, stays within budget, gets the work done quickly, and never fails to return telephone calls and emails. We would have absolutely no hesitation in using Skip again and in recommending his services to others.
