The Ultra carpet team and Noor (the owner) were exceptional. Two major instances they saved our 12 month home renovation project of a 3 bedroom bloor west village family home: First, the designer and contractor scoped hardwood, vinyl and carpet at twice the previously approved budget. Being extremely sceptical that hidden profit was driving the seaming suspicious cost increase, we asked Noor for a second opinion. Noor found the same or extremely similar high quality products to meet the budget. Ultra carpet immediately replaced the original flooring supplier. He was very transparent about pricing, but also had a keen eye to ensure flooring and room transition worked. A scope expected of the designer. More specifically, Noor made critical recommendations: transition strips polished nickel between the hardwood and tile to match lighting, ending the carpet running near the side door, staining banister to match the new, etc. All the suggestions were taken and make a big difference in the end. Second, with the project near completion, the installation of flooring was critical to meet our move in date. This date was important as our rental house time had ended and the growing likelihood the project would be shutdown from COVID-19 made this date critically important. Despite the criticality of the date being widely known, the flooring installers, hired by the general contractor, continued to experience delays which indicated they would miss their date. For example, these installers took 3 weeks to pass a heated floor inspection. A process that was scheduled for 3 days. They apathy for the schedule and reluctance to communicate remediation caused frustration as the project came to a stop pushing back mill workers, electrical, etc. Noor agreed to take over the flooring and, eventually took over the wall tile as well to get the project back on schedule. Noor's team working around the other trades to ensure their part of the project did not impact the overall timeline. Within 4 weeks, the project was back on schedule. This could not have been achieved if Noor and his team didn't change their schedules to work from 5am-8pm, including weekends. I suspect this was frustrating for them as they see other trades missing their scheduled dates causing further rework to their schedule. In short, we refer to the Ultra Carpet team as the unsung hero of our project. Like many renovators, we are a busy family with small children. After working long days in professional careers, the last thing we had to worry about was flooring. Ultra carpet is now our exclusive flooring provider.
