It's been about 5 months and this review is long overdue, Torlys product and installation has held up very well!
This is somewhat of a two-part review as Eric from Markham Flooring and Saro, our flooring installer each deserve their own reviews!
Markham flooring is a family owned and run business, who's main point of contact is Eric. Eric was really pleasant to deal with, very professional and during the height of the second lockdown, he ensured he kept his distance from us, consultations were by appointment only and masks were worn at all times. Communication was extremely easy going and Eric followed up with us as needed. The entire consultation process was so easy to handle from choosing our flooring and vents to scheduling our install and the install actually happening on time! I would highly recommend Markham Flooring as they're super reliable and the flooring installer they contracted out to us was amazing!
Our flooring installer:
Let me just start off by saying Saro himself is an amazing person to communicate with. He's extremely talented, with expert flooring knowledge and his cleanliness has left me in awe (refer to photo of how he left our house every night after he finished for the day)
From start to finish, Saro has provided nothing but excellence and quality in his workmanship! We had purchased Torlys waterproof laminate flooring from Markham Flooring on Birchmount and Denison, who recommended Saro for laminate flooring installation. Boy were they right.
A little background on our install: The previous home owners installed birch hardwood floors that were just too dark for our liking, but to retain property value we decided to lay floating waterproof laminate flooring on top so if we decided to move, we could just rip out the laminate floor easily. Our kitchen counters had been installed on top of the existing hardwood floor and Saro had prefaced that there would be some gaps between the newly laid floor and the foot of the counters, which would require shoe moulding to cover up (it wouldn't look as seamless). Little did I know, the way he cut and installed the laminate floors were so perfect that it lined up well enough to cover with just a bead of caulking (you can refer to some of the before and after caulking photos I've attached). This type of workmanship can be seen throughout our entire main floor, around the door trims, just everywhere!
On what was supposed to be the last day of install, Saro was moving our really heavy fridge that didn't seem like it had proper wheels, so it had accidentally scratched our new laminate floor that was installed. Saro spent half a day replacing the flooring that was scratched and was super transparent about it. I wouldn't have known if he didn't tell me. Not only is he experienced at what he does, he's also honest and I really appreciated that! He also consulted me on a lot of install methods to keep us on the same page so there wouldn't be any surprises.
I can't recommend Markham Flooring and Saro enough, they will definitely be our go-to flooring company whenever we have flooring needs. They've made our newly purchased house into what we now call our home (and I couldn't be happier)!
