The stairs in our 100+ year old home had old carpet, and the treads beneath were very creaky and in need of some repair. Victor and his team removed the carpet, removed the old glue and decades of gunk, and then cut and installed new treads and risers over top of the old. Due to their age the stairs are not straight, level or true in any way. Regardless, Victor did an unbelievable job. He really is a perfectionist, incredibly attentive to detail and a real master carpenter. For the landings he integrated the treads with the engineered hardwood we used for the floors. This required some complex and detailed carpentry work, which you would never know from how clean the install is. Before, halfway (carpet off) and after photos are attached. To save some money I pre-stained and then varnished the risers/treads, and also painted the railings and stringers myself. As always, Victor was happy to be flexible on the scope and we agreed on a price that worked for both of us. We are as always with Victor's work extremely happy with the outcome - thanks again!

We recently hired Victory Carpentry to renovate the kitchen and upstairs bathroom in our 110 year old house and couldnt be happier with the result. The scope of the work involved a full gut of the bathroom and pretty well the same for the kitchen (one wall stayed largely intact, otherwise everything was rebuilt). These are the reasons we think you should hire Victory Carpentry for your next project: He is an excellent and experienced carpenter. Victor had previously replaced and levelled our main floor subfloor when we realized it was shot halfway through demolition by our hardwood contractor. It to be done very quickly as had a week before we needed to be out of our place. That work was completed exceptionally well, and he went above and beyond what other carpenters had proposed, carefully shaving some joists while sistering others, to create the best result. On that basis we knew he was the best choice for a full room renovation where we were likely going to run into the same issues and would need to meet existing out of level floors and walls, etc. Sure enough, Victor planned very carefully from the outset to maximize space (flipping the tub and using rigid insulation on one end for example) and also create the best aesthetic result. He also rerouted some ductwork, significantly increasing the airflow to the 2nd floor, fixed a cracked joist in the living room that he happened to see... the list goes on. Victor was quickly able to find great solutions for every weird twist and turn of our weird old house without missing a beat. Victor is also a very good project manager. His sub-trades were all very knowledgeable, professional and most importantly consistently showed up when Victor scheduled them. This resulted in no delays to schedule due to lost time, which is so common in home renovations, especially when you are encountering and dealing with underlying issues which inevitably push the schedule a day or two as happened with us. The sub-trades were also all happy to talk about different options with us, and the electrician ended up doing some additional work adding outlets in our rear bedroom for a very fair price. Its a testament to Victor's reputation and credibility how well they all worked with him. His crew were also all good people (we called them our roommates by the end) and were very courteous and respectful of our home throughout. Lastly Victor is just a very honest and straight forward contractor. We knew that whatever happened we could trust him to achieve the best result and give us fair pricing when we had to talk extras. The work took approximately marginally longer to complete than the target schedule, largely due to the need to redo some plumbing and HVAC, as well as to add a stud wall to protect previously un-insulated plumbing, all of which wasn't known until demolition commenced. However, Victor was clear with us from the beginning about the possibility of delays due to the unknown, and kept us very well advised of schedule throughout, calling at the end of every day to check in and provide an update. It was a pleasure dealing with Victor throughout the job, including all the conversations about music, and we would be happy to work with Victory Carpentry again for our next reno. Thanks again!

We recently hired Full Pressure Plumbing to reroute the drain from our kitchen sink, install a dishwasher and a new hosebib, as well as a backwater valve. The quote was reasonable, Kristian worked around our schedule (we were doing a few renos and when something went sideways Kristian was flexible in rescheduling), and the work was done quickly and well. Great experience all around.

UPDATE 1.5 years later: Hardwood still looks and feels great. Barely any squeaking and only in the upstairs where we laid on top of the old subfloor. This would be a good result in a new house let alone a 100+ year old house with all the craziness they had to deal with. Thanks again Rick. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We recently hired Rick and his crew to install new engineered hardwood throughout our 100+ year old home. From day one Rick was very straight forward with his quote and his advice. The floors were uneven and out of level and Rick made it very clear that although he does have a lot of experience working in older homes he could get it to be good, but not perfect. His quote was very detailed and scheduling the job was easy. Halfway through tearing up the old hardwood Rick calls me and tells me there's an issue - turns out the old subfloor on the main floor, which was probably original, was in terrible shape and would need a complete replacement. Rick recommended we call in a carpenter to do this work and also make sure all the joists were in good shape. Luckily we found a great carpenter who was able to start the day after Rick's team finished the upstairs. Rick worked with us to schedule the rest of the job immediately after the carpenter finished, which meant that we were still able to move in on time. Rick also came by to coordinate with the carpenter to make sure the hardwood would line up right with the kitchen tile, coordinate the vent size and heights, etc. If we had chosen to go with someone less experienced or flexible we could have been in real trouble, but Rick worked with us to get it done and did a terrific job. As others have said the work space was cleaned thoroughly (they even shop-vacced the heck out of the old subfloor to be removed) and they took care not to damage any walls etc. Great work all around.
