Len in Georgetown

We're having other reno work done and it was recommended that we increase the insulation in our attic (because of new water pipe just above the dry wall to the shower, the insulation was lacking in the attic). House was built in mid '70s and it had what was probably the norm at the time (R12). We opted to get it up to R50 (current recommendation). The work was done in about 2 hr with some insulation mess on the carpet in the bedroom when finished (this was blown-in cellulose insulation). This mess was cleaned so thoroughly by the installer that I couldn't find one spec of insulation anywhere on the floor when he was finished. It may be wishful thinking but it feels different already on the upper levels (it had always been 5-7o warmer in the summer with the a/c on and 5-7o cooler in the winter with the furnace on). I'd recommend Kort if you live in their service area (Erin, Ontario). They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up before they left.

Anthony's (part owner-sales) quote was was one of several we received mid August for installation in ~10 weeks. Weather delayed this to early November. Mike (part owner-installer), Sean and Dom arrived to tear out old and install 22 new windows. The whole install took 3 days and went -->extremely<-- smoothly. It was distressful to see my home being torn apart with sawzalls but when I saw how competently and professionally the work was being done, my fears were gone. Even when I offered my 2c, all comments and suggestions were addressed and adequately answered. I have amateur experience at home renos so I did ask from some experience. Clean up was quick and efficient. Sure there were some bits and pieces left that I cleaned up but that debris fit into one hand. The driveway was then swept--and then vacuumed. Would I hire/recommend Halton Windows? Based on this install, yes. Without hesitation. Caveat--I have no after-install experience with Halton Windows (this being my first time employing them) so time will tell if my opinion changes.

At the tail end of a mold remediation, there was a really warm period with the resultant snow melt finding its way into my basement through one sizable crack. This was the culprit for all my mold problems. Pierre (owner/mgr) bent over backwards to get my problem fixed quickly when I called (somewhat hysterically I might add--water was coming in as we spoke). The crew (Rudy and Axsel) arrived exactly on time and were done with the repair within an hour (~7 foot crack floor to above ground level. Excellent work was done on a timely basis. Time will tell if this seal holds but at this point in time, go with these folks. I'm glad I did!!

We had a basement wall leak about 8 yr ago. Only recently did I discover I was having breathing issues and I connected to that leak After telephone and email consults with Adam, I agreed to terms and Lavar and Mathew were sent to rectify the problem. Their work was first rate. Both were very conscientious and neat in all their work. Any issues I had (or thought I had) were addressed adequately and to my satisfaction. Hopefully I'll never have a reason to call them again (for obvious reasons), but if I ever have a leak again, they will be the first company I contact. Thanks to Lavar and Mathew for a job well done and to the folks at Geofocus for responding to any and all concerns.
