Eavestroughing & Tuck Pointing
($2400 for both jobs, done separately about a year apart) N Spencer contracting had done two jobs on my house. On the first, an eavestrough repair, they did the job quickly and professionally, with a price that fell right in the middle of the quotes I received. Almost a year after installation I had some concerns that the problem had re-appeared, and they showed up to inspect it, and gave me a free cleaning (which solved the problem). On the second, some spot pointing, they quoted me a relatively high price for what I thought was needed, but it fell within the range I was hearing from other people, so I decided to go ahead. After seeing how (relatively) little time was put into doing the (very well done) job, I called them and told them that, based on the time they had been at the house their price was somewhat expensive (keep in mind that it's a relatively vague quote - "spot point where necessary"). Instead of being combative, like other contractors I have worked with, Gord simply said he'd look into it, and called me back with a new price, about 60% of the original quote, that I thought was fair for the work that was done. No complaining, no hassle - simply a fair deal that took my opinion into play. They've definitely earned repeat business from me, as well as this recommendation.
