Its been a week since DAngelo Roofing came and re-shingled my roof. My house was built around 1860 and needs a little TLC here and there, the roof was probably due a couple of years ago. Apart from some disjoint when coordinating things between the radio station and the roofing company, when it came to installation, it went impressively smooth. I'll be honest, they brought an army of polite, courteous, eager and friendly roofers, back-office, front office, marketing and promotion people. The tear-down of the old shingles and Installation of the new GAF roofing system with extra vents, new and improved flashing etc. took barely 2 hours, highly impressive. The clean up crew circumnavigated the property a few times, collecting shingles, nails, shingle grit, empty caulk tubes and any garbage as thoroughly as they could. The roof not only looks great but come the following Monday, the torrential downpours we experienced reinforced the quality and performance of a good roof. All round talented, professional and experienced. DAngelo Roofing comes highly recommended in my opinion and you'll be very pleased with outcome. Disclosure: I won this DAngelo Roofing new roof in a local radio station competition however I'm under no obligation to provide reviews.

Mark Baillie (owner) Grand Valley Construction Ltd (226-388-8478) was contracted to rebuild my chimney during which I mentioned I was thinking of roof, vented soffit, fascia, eves and attic venting. He said he does that, has roofing guys on his team and is available so we signed end of August 2010. He briefly showed me what he called master licence and insurance papers prior to starting. The chimney tear-down was straight forward enough but for the debris not being cleaned up from my lawn for a week, the rebuild took days longer and the uneven and irregular mortar lines on the rebuilt chimney are a disgrace to look at, I know its not right but he talked around it, left dried up concrete on my lawn killing large patch of lawn. Research on many professional websites clearly show what a quality brick built chimney and capping should look like. Mark is in no way ready to deliver quality work in my opinion. Regarding the roof - he lost so many "good" days during the tear-down, the mess from the old shingles leaving tar marks and grit and very dangerous nails nested in the lawn where my 6 year olds play was pitiful. Giving him the benefit of the doubt he continues on and off, breaking milestone promises, payment plan promises, I have heard sob stories before but - firing staff, being extorted by Brantford drug barons, truck engine failure, staff in hospital getting CAT scans its hard to determine what is truth or not. He failed to plan the project at all, leaving the roof exposed for a torrential down poar which resulted in water running through my house, saturating carpets, leaving water traces on door frames, dripping down electrical fittings, pooling on floors and making its way to the crawlspace soaking items in storage and their boxes, all need clearing up, but he talked around that too, and asked for a payment to finish the job. Came one day, shingled the remainder of the roof and tried to sting me for extra money for what he was contracted to do. Finally he renegged on the fascia, saying I must be crazy for thinking he was gonna do it for what we agreed and took his stuff and left. My roof is incomplete, the chimney is incomplete, he removed eves trough now water does not channel from my home, this is sickening. I recommend you hire Mark and Grand Valley Construction if you are in the market for untruths, deceit, poor workmanship, unskilled labor, and general BS, expect the job to be unfinished and incredibly poor quality.

Rhinobag.com what is it! I stumbled across the rhinobag concept at Home Depot last weekend - I had rented a jackhammer to break concrete, now I was faced with disposal. Having used the services of the famous 1-800-got-junk who I might add were very good, albeit comparitavely more costly. I purchased the smaller of the two sizes of very strong bags for $29.95 which holds 2 cubic yards of 'stuff' up to 2000lbs dead weight. For dense or heavy material they recommend 2/3rd full only (which you find out after purchase by reading the enclosed paperwork) Follow the guidelines on where to place the bag before filling it as there are some pick up restrictions - overhead cables and whatnot. You will not be able to move it once it is loaded. I filled the bag entirely with broken concrete, there are disclaimers that if the bag is overweight or there are dangerous materials they have right to refuse or charge more for pick up. A little nervous I made the call to the toll free number, a very pleasant lady took standard address and payment details. I mentioned there would be no one home for the pick up, she suggested this is normal practice, mentioning that if there is a problem I'd be called and new rates may be issued. Pickup would happen within 5 business days and make sure the signed content disclosure document is attached to the bag. Card would not be charged untill after pickup. Two days later upon return from work the bag was gone - no call just clean clear space on my drive way. Perfect service from an inventive company with a plan. Highly recommended IMO

2006 - After a great landscaping job in our side yard by Planit Green, to save a few bucks we decided to sod the area ourselves. This was a painless exercise when dealing with Hamilton Sod, not only does the SOD comes on pallets (in our case two). You receive a seasons worth of fertilizer and full instructions (who'd have though you need instructions to lay SOD, but there are considerations which are easily represented). Overall painless and timely order/purchase process. 2008 - Called to see if SOD is being harvested yet (last week of April 08) took over 45 mins on the phone to get to helpful lady on the phone - guess they are popular enough to warrant this sort of wait. Would recommend for sure.
