My mother recently hired Master Craftsman to reupholster two sofas. The cost on her contract was $5500. To start off with, the price is extremely high, but since she is older, and a bit naive, she did not realize that she was payting way too much for this service. Once they had her furniture, they called and informed her that there would be additional charges of $2500 to do some minor repairs to the sofas. I am disgusted in this company, they took advantage of a sweet woman, and have done nothing to rectify the situation.

While we have never claimed to be the least expensive furniture restoration company in southern Ontario, we do stand behind our pricing structure which reflects the quality of service we provide. Prior to dispatching one of our Estimators to your mother's home we no doubt asked her whether or not she would like anyone to be with her at the estimate, such as a close relative. Should you have been present for the estimate, you may have been able to further question the Estimator as to what explicitly was involved in the complete restoration process, justifying the "extremely high" price. At this time your mother, like all prospective customers, would have been informed that the cost of complete furniture restoration - not just recovering - is comparable to buying new furniture at a top quality furniture retailer such The Art Shoppe or DeBoers. As to your claim of hidded additional charges, NO CUSTOMER IS CHARGED ADDITIONAL COSTS FOR ANY PRODUCT OR SERVICE OUTSIDE OF WHAT IS STIPULATED IN OUR CONTRACT, unless agreed to in advance by the customer once the furniture has been stripped at our facility. Your mother may rest assured that what she paid for was of the utmost quality and that she will enjoy her newly restored funiture for years to come.
