I hired Leaside Handyman to renovate a shower room in my basement in April 2010. The job was supposed to take 2 weeks, and it took 8 months. Sean, midway through the job told me he didn't have time to finish the job, and the workers he sent had been fired because of the poor job they were doing at my house. He said he would get his father to finish the job. I was led to believe his father was working for him, until I started having problems with his father. When th job was finally done, I was left with a floor drain filled with self leveling cement. I had to remove the tile, heated floor, and floor drain and have them replaced. I asked Sean to pay for the floor drain and was told that it wasn't his responsibility as the work was performed by his father. I took them both to small claims court, and the judge decided in my favour. Yet, I am still waiting for restitution from Sean and his father. So, becareful as Sean may be great when things go right, he certainly isn't when things don't go well. He told me he had insurance, but, when the issue arose, he told me the insurance wouldn't pay because he had subcontracted the work, but, yet still had the gall to tell me his father was working directly for me. After replacing all that was ruined, the job ended up costing the $4500 of Leaside costs + supplies, and another $3800 to fix the mistakes they made.
