I interviewed 6 contractors from Home Stars before deciding to go with Ariel from Green Maple Home Renovations to completely tear out and rebuild two bathrooms on the second floor of our 30 year old home. We are a couple in our 30s with a young child and we plan to live in this house forever. He was extra careful about preventing water damage. His rates were very reasonable and his strengths are in building the foundation for your room (it must be his mechanical engineering background!). If there is an easy way vs a harder but better way – he will choose the better way. For example, he took the extra time to properly frame and hang the builder’s mirror in my bathroom as opposed to just gluing it to the wall even though I told him he could. He made sure our exhaust fans were properly vented to the exterior even though it meant a ton of extra work since the previous owner had not done it properly. The drain that came with my tub did not provide the best leak prevention so he used his own parts and design instead. I always try to write some areas for improvement. The tiler and painter he arranged required more supervision, some of the electrical work required a follow up visit by Ariel, and some of the finishing touches like fixtures and paint needed some touch ups afterwards by us to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Keep in mind that I am a perfectionist and things like uneven grout lines bother me, so I may be holding him to a higher standard than normal people! These issues I felt were relatively minor and I felt Ariel did everything he could to try to fix any problems and make me happy. Overall, I felt confident that my renovation would be done properly with quality and long term durability as priorities as opposed to fast and cheap. He’s the kind of hardworking person that you call when someone else has screwed up your reno – he will do it right. I would recommend him to my friends and family.

Alex installed a chain link swing gate with a latch in my existing chain link fence in my backyard. It was a small job and I had a hard time finding a contractor willing to come out, but Alex was happy to do it. He was pleasant to talk to, arrived on time and the gate was installed with quality workmanship. He made sure to review the plan with me and made the effort to confirm a small change in the plan before proceeding. He was available quickly and the job was done within a few days of my call. I would recommend his services and would call him again for any fencing needs. Thanks Home Stars!

John and his assistant Sasha painted our old stucco ceilings and we are very happy with their work. John came to our home promptly to provide a quote. We were on a very tight timeline and John was able to accommodate. The work was completed on time and at a very reasonable rate. They cleaned up after themselves and left the place spotless. The quality of their work is very high. John and Sasha were cheerful and polite - a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to call them again for any painting needs. Highly recommended!

Charles and his assistant Predrag installed 29 LED potlights, new outlets, removed some old recessed lighting, added new light fixtures, ceiling fans and switches in our 30 year old home. We bought our own dimmable LED bulbs ($25 each) from Home Depot and Major Mack provided the housing, trim and installation. We were quoted $65 per light by phone, but upon arrival the patch up work and other factors increased the cost to $75 per light. We are very happy with their service and our home looks fantastic. I can’t believe the difference good lighting makes! Predrag flawlessly repaired all the holes in the walls and touched up with paint we provided. During the planning walk through, Charles had good ideas for how to work with our layout and safety was a top priority. Emails and phone calls were returned promptly. Our stucco ceiling has yellowed over the years and we plan to repaint the ceilings to hide the chalk lines they used for measuring and the patch work. Overall, we are very pleased and would call Major Mack again for any future work.
