A few weeks ago I booked an appointment with Splash Window Cleaning to clean out my eavestroughs. The office called me Monday to confirm my appointment and the site manager called me as well to firm up the time. We agreed that he and his crew would show up between 9:30 am and 10:00 am Wednesday morning (today). Around 11:00 am, when they still had not turned up and no one had called, I telephoned the office. No one answered so I left a message asking if they were still coming and when could I expect them, if at all? At 2:30 pm I called again; still no answer, only a recorded message saying their office hours were 3 pm to 8 pm. At 2:50 pm (5 hours after my appointment time) a woman from the office called to apologize and explain that because of the weather the eavestroughs were likely frozen and therefore could not be cleaned out. She had no explanation as to why the site manager had not called to cancel the appointment as soon as he determined that it was too cold to do the job, other than to say: "Oh well, you know how men are". I declined to reschedule the appointment; I'll try my luck elsewhere.
