We hired BBG Carpentry to demolish our existing back deck, and build us a new one with composite materials. We made the right choice. John and Dave helped us with the design to best suit our needs. They worked tirelessly every day, and were respectful and kind. Their attention to detail was incredible, and they finished the job within the estimated time and budget. They were a pleasure to have around each day, and I would highly recommend them in any capacity.

My wife and I hired BBG Carpentry to fix the decks on our home. We had John come by for an estimate and as soon as we met him we knew he was the right guy for the job. He was transparent, honest but most of all he was a craftsmen. He takes great pride in his work and takes great prescision in all of the cuts, fastening, fit and finish of the entire project.

We have a small porch at the front of our house, a main deck and a balcony. John used some of the existing deck and reframed some of it to make it more useful with our property. We had it surfaced in cedar and looks amazing. He was @ our place for about 2 weeks removing the old decking and installing the finished product.

He possesses a valid trade certificate from England in the trade of carpentry. This is a must for me, John also provided all the relevant documentation of his proof of insurance with WSIB and his private liability insurance, along with the registration documents with Canada Revenue Agency and a master business licence. He also brought an extensive protfolio of his work which was different from the posts on his website so we felt we had an adequit grasp that he was a solid carpenter.

He was very hepful in helping us with the design as our back yard is very small and we needed to maximize the amount of space we had top work with. Once he started the work was completed in a timely manner and the worksite was always left clean and tidy after the working day. No raw material or tools were left out to trip over. His work was top notch and precise. We couldn't have gotten a better carpenter. We've had numerous compliments and the work will add value to our home.

John Groves is worth every penny. We would hire him again and so should you!

Our replacement deck is elevated 9 feet off the ground so needed to be built to a standard that would satisfy the Town and hence get us a permit. A combination of our overall design in combination with John's advice and experience achieved the design that we wanted and got us a permit. It looks and feels impressive. The price was fair and the construction time as expected.

After recommending a good engineer (who I was very happy with) to complete the drawings for my garage in the spring of 2014, John agreed to build the frame for it. As he was busy with jobs that had already been lined up for that summer, I had to wait until the fall of 2014 for him to be available. Because of the thoroughness of the questions he was asking about the end use[s] of the garage, the additional suggestions he was making, and the many positive reviews he had, I decided to wait until he was available. I was glad I did, as the frame he built was solid and was praised by the city inspector (for going beyond code requirements e.g. in use of hurricane ties), and by the roofing and the siding contractor as well. The contractors both said it was a great to build on work that was clean, square, and well thought-out. I wrote this review last fall but for some reason it was not published then. John asked me about it recently so I am writing it again and hope that it does not get lost this time.

I called B.B.G. Carpentry and John came over to give us an estimate on doing wainscoting, crown molding and baseboards, he brought us samples and understood exactly what we wanted. We were very pleased with the results, John was able to take our vision and make it real, our home has been transformed into a modern and classy space thanks to John. John replied to our inquiry right away, provided a quote and followed up very quickly with a date to start the job. During the work he provided pictures of the progress, updated us on any issues and fixed them on our behalf. The porch is beautifully crafted and it was a pleasure to meet and spend time with John and Dave who feel like old friends. We will have BBG back to do our future larger projects in a heart beat!

While we wish we had been able to get the job done over the summer months, the fact is that they are busy, and busy for a reason - they are very good at what they do. John did a fantastic job rebuilding my front porch. The old porch boards had rotted out and John managed to salvage and resupport the existing frame work while adding new cedar boards and stairs to work within my budget. As always, he and his team were professional, courteous and efficient. Another job well done!
