Mike, the owner of Arctic Vinyl, was referred to us by our neighbor after they had a new front entrance door and window in a dining room converted to a patio slider.
I saw the work there being done and the end result was stellar, and I'm a real nit-picker and a very advanced DIYer and know my stuff, so we decided that even though we had other alternatives in our comparisons that seemed to be adequate, we felt most comfortable going with them having seen what they did next door and having met Mike upon the neighbors install myself and discussing with him my plans.
What stood out with Mike as he had his salesperson's hat against my nearly four decades of being in sales (I do financial stuff professionally), he did not poo-poo his competition which being old school, is a no-no.
He talked about the features and benefits of what he had to offer. Ya don't see that all the time, and that stood out to me also. Never any nonsense of 'sign here now" to get a deal or any shenanigans like that, which I did have with two other quoters.
We had quotes from 5 companies prior to that. I felt in fact Mike had that 'cap on his head', like I know to do, like he was helping us decide based on our needs like he was listening to understand what shoes we were in and what he knew as an experienced professional was in our best interests. Ya don't get that sense often, Mike nailed it!
Arctic Vinyl came two days ago and installed our two new kitchen windows as part of a major main floor reno for us as well as replacing a 1980s four panel patio slider that was just simply tired and showing signs of old age being finicky opening and closing,
Their install guys were a pleasure to deal with. Often, contractor/workers in your home are evasive to talk to. Not the case here. These guys were what I expect working on stuff I HAVE TO LIVE WITH. Very pro-active, responsive to my inquiries and amenable to talk to about what they were doing. Top marks to the boys there Mike! Can't say I've ever said that often.
The kitchen windows in particular had to be spot on as they were being flush face interior side framed with expensive Cambria Inverness Frost Quartz solid backsplash to the edges of the interior frames of the windows to a 1/16th degree tolerance. You can not have ANY major unevenness issues around the inside drywall where the $8K solid quartz backsplash sheets will be and today we had the template guy come in from Cambria and do their laser fitting and said everything was done from AV spot on.
All work by AV was done extremely to my satisfaction. We've had bad experiences in the past with hiring outside contractors to do work for us. This was not the case here.
I have no direct affiliation with Arctic Vinyl other than being a very satisfied customer, which unfortunately is rare for me to extoll online for anybody that has worked on our house in the last 23 years since we've been living here. Is it my bad luck? Or is it that quality companies with competent workers are that hard to find. I dunno, I'd like to think it's just bad luck, but not with Artic Vinyl.
We will also be looking at inviting them back for a new front entrance door in the spring when we are ready for that part of our major reno in our 1969 built side split house here in South Ajax.
Again, I have no reservation recommending Arctic Vinyl.
There was another issue that was no fault of AV that they were very very accommodating with that delayed our project after ordering that forced the install for quite some time and they had to hold off the install.
They worked with our unfortunate dilemma without pressing us for having to bump our install date. I was really thankful for that and truly appreciated their patience with our uncontrollable health event on our our side that delayed the install date significantly..
Another demonstration Mike and his company that he I learned has a family heritage in that industry that cares and you've not just wandered into their 'sausage factory'. you were taught well Mike!!! Haha!
Thank you Arctic Vinyl once again! Those windows and the patio door going in this week really made it for me. Another major step in the longer than expected major reno journey we undertook last fall is now done thanks to you and how you managed our situation right when we needed.
You were there to meet other timelines that were impacting us waiting for the windows to go in. Can't thank you enough frankly for working with us like you did! Hats off to you Mike!
