SMC Masonry

Our bungalow needed a face-lift and we chose SMC Masonry. Stephen & his crew were fantastic to work with from start to finish! There was a slight issue that needed to be fixed after they completed. No issues with returning and correcting. Highly recommend SMC! We have had so many compliments! We just love how our house looks now. Thank you Stephen & all your SMC crew.

Overall, I was pleased with the work from Stephen and his crew. The work included knocking down the top ~10 rows of my chimney, and rebuilding it with replacement bricks as well as repairs to the flu liners and a new cap on top. Communication with Stephen was good for scheduling and planning, and he was informative in our discussions. The crew was prompt, the work was done quickly and clean-up was good as well. However, about a week after the project was completed, I inspected the work and already saw some cracks in the concrete cap they built. I informed Stephen and he came back to do repairs without hesitation, so that was good service. But by putting another layer of concrete over the top, I do still have some concerns on quality over the long term. I waited about 6 months before posting this review since I wanted to ensure the repairs are holding up, and it's looking good so far. I'll inspect it again in the spring... we'll see if it still holds up through a season of fireplace use and the associated heat/cold cycles. I'll post an updated review if I see any issues.

Steve and his crew decommissioned this chimney for us ,protecting the roof from potential damage.a job well done professionally and left the property clean as if they weren't there.

My chimney was starting to crumble above the roof line. Stephen came out right away to look at it and let me know it would have to be rebuilt from the roof up. After Stephen found a matching brick we scheduled to have him do the job. Stephen and crew arrived as scheduled and in one day, removed the old chimney and put up the new chimney. Very professional to deal with, did great work at a reasonable price. I would not hesitate to recommend Stephen if you need brickwork done.

I contacted SMC Masonry in October, after being let down by another masonry contractor. Stephen responded immediately and came to look at the job. It was late in the season, but he was able to match the brick and scheduled the job for November 20. Stephen and two of his employees arrived as scheduled and proceeded to do the required work. The job was completed in one day. The crew cleaned up completely when done. The workmanship was excellent and I am very happy with the finished product.

From outset to completion, communication was prompt, clear and consistent without any ambiguity or delays. Stephen assessed the damage to our existing chimney, and explained in a way that was easy to understand what the situation was and what the rebuild would involve including timeframes, materials and labour. The quote was fair and reasonable and not inflated like some other companies were. Stephen was able to source the same brick for the complete rebuild of the chimney. Stephen's team worked quickly, efficiently, and seem to have left our property cleaner than they found it. An absolute pleasure to work with.
