Refrigerator assessment

York

Maydone correctly assessed why my refrigerator was not cooling in about 10 minutes (defective defrost heater). They tried to source a replacement part but, due to the age of the refrigerator (37 years) were unable to do so.

Godsend

Old Toronto

We hired a company to come in and check our refrigerator. They quoted us close to $4000. Thankfully we went with a second opinion and hired maydone. Not only were they extremely professional but there prognosis was much more simplistic and only cost us ~$400. Clearly they know what theyre doing and have their customers best interest at heart!

Not Honest - Updated September 9, 2024

I had a hose that had come off underneath my washer/dryer combo and Maydone contacted me very quickly. I asked for pricing details or an hourly rate but they managed to avoid a direct answer. I chatted and exchanged emails but they avoided pricing. Technician showed up to repair my washer and charged $282.50 plus tax. As seniors I felt taken advantage of and called around. I was given actual quotes, which of course depended on the work and if parts were needed. 3 quotes were $100 cheaper and one for $75.00. I called Maydone back to voice my concern over the pricing and received several angry and intimidating phone calls back. They agreed to refund $50.00 plus tax. The work was done the beginning of of July. We've never received the refund nor heard from them again. Save yourself a headache and pick another company. September 9th and I just received an angry call from Ramon, the technician, for the bad review. Is there no end to this nightmare? It was not. They called again and offered a refund and then asked if I got the refund if I would delete my review. I said no. 6 intimidating phone calls and 1 phone call to bribe me, plus their response to my post.

Dear Barbara,

We clearly informed you that we require to do a Diagnosis Service Call in order to determine the exact issue to be able to provide you with the exact repair price. We were honest with you and we told that it is a matter of broken-detached hose that we were able to fix without parts.

We have provided you with the estimated repair price that you approved (It was $250 + tax and not the $282.50 + tax (Average rate on the market for such a job, the washer is inclosed in cabinet)). The quote was given to you clearly and you approved and paid it in the end of the repair.

Everything is working fine and no concerns with that except that for some reason you decided to call and threaten us with the reviews for the refund.

Claiming and blaming that other companies gave you a lower price. In this case you need just refuse the quote and call other company and God knows what results you get there for cheaper repair.

We are professional and licensed specialists, fully insured and we stand behind the quality that we provide and that's where the price comes from.

We have tried to contact you to resolve the case and you simply hangs up and blames that we called and yelled and threatened you.

If you still looking for resolution we appreciate your call.

Quick support for fridge

Fridge water & ice component wasnt working and had a loud beeping sound. Maydone came out the next day when they said they would and fixed it quickly with follow up advice if it were to occur again.

Refrigerator Repair

Guys(two brothers) came as scheduled(early actually). Fridge fan motor making a lot of noise. They defrosted various areas of the fridge and reset to factory settings. Runs real well now.

Timely, professional and efficient repair of my refrigerator

I was contacted by Maydone within minutes of requesting service through Home Stars. The technician showed up exactly as planned the next day, diagnosed the problem, and efficiently did the repair (needed new thermostat). My only concern was the cost, it seemed a bit high.

Repair Gas Range broken thermostat and igniter
