Metropolitan Movers

We hired Metropolitan Movers in late June for our move about 45 minutes away. This was my first time using professional movers and I was a little apprehensive, but everything went off perfectly, and I was very happy I hired movers. They were on time, professional, came out to give us a free quote and provide loaner totes and wardrobe boxes. They were polite, helpful, fast, and quick at their work. Items were well packed and handled carefully. Would recommend them in a second and without any reservations!

Metropolitan Moving services was contracted to move us from Welland ON to Oshawa ON. They quoted a $150 truck charge plus $95 per hour for three men or a flat rate of $460 for the first four hours which would include the truck charge. Additional hours were then to be charged at the $95.00.
We booked the job at the flat rate with them for 09:00.
At 09:00 a truck arrived and told us the job had been subcontracted to them by Metropolitan. Calling Metropolitan to confirm got us voice mail.
The truck was loaded and we left. We followed the loaded truck which was stopped for inspection at an MTO station at about 12:45 and was held by the officer. We were told by the movers that they were stopped as the driver had an incorrect license.
The MTO officer I spoke to said that the truck required a “D” licensed driver in order to leave. While waiting at the MTO we saw many other trucks take 15 to 20 minutes to go through.
A new driver arrived and left MTO at about 16:10. They finally arrived in Oshawa and started unloading.
The original driver presented the bill with an extra “truck charge” of $150 (specifically included in flat rate by Nicole from Metropolitan).
He also only allowed 2 hours for the 3.5 hour halt. Unloading was halted and a signature was coerced to get the balance of the property unloaded. The overcharge was $276.85 – over 30%.
Calls to Metropolitan went unanswered and I had to sign the credit slip to get our stuff unloaded.
It also started to sleet during last half hour of unloading - boxes were thrown, items broken.  If the drive hadn't been delayed the move would have been finished before the weather changed.

Driver mentioned having instructions to drive around weigh scales and had only gone through this one as he didn't know the area.

It was a good experience. They were really very nice and really helpful. They were very professional and did an excellent job. I liked the care they took in wrapping the furniture to protect it. They were on time and they seemed to know what they were doing.Compared to other companies the price was very reasonable. They delivered my things on time as promised . If I know anybody who needed movers, I would definitely recommend them.

These guys are pros. They give you a firm estimate. They were supposed to be at the house at 9 am and even came earlier at 8 :45 and i was surprised as movers usually late (based on the stories). Everything goes fine and smooth Thank God I found the best movers for the stressful relocation for me... They made it very easier for me and my family.

You were great!!! For the first time one company made me happy about my move.The movers of this company were so different from other companies.They were responsible and very professional. They do their job fantastic because it is their duty to give service to the people. If I will be given another time to make a move, definitely, I will hire you again since I know what you can do to make my move successful. You already proved you can do a great move and I'm sure that you will never fail me.Good luck! I will call you next time when will need movers help.

The service from the start was professional, all items were safely transported with no damages. The price was fair, the inclusions great. The only flaw they were late BUT NOT their fault. They provided me a courtesy call, when it comes to weather, traffic it is NOT their fault. Everything they promised me, they provided.

Staff friendly kidos to them! Need a move call Metropolitan Movers you will be glad you did. I wish I called then before I called another company who stiffed me, Metropolitan Movers saved the day, got a crew, in THE SAME day within 1 hour I will ONLY move with them! Don`t mess around call Metropolitan Movers today!

I had a very small move with this company , they only billed me for 3 hours and I was able to save some money compare to other quotes I got with higher rates and more minimum hours.
I am a student and will diffidently call you guys next year to use your service again.

Thank you guys for wonderful and stress free move .
the movers arrived at 9:15 in the morning after calling us that they will be late only by 15-20 minutes
all was done in 8.5 hours , which I expected to take at least 12 from my last move 5 years ago.
I would recommend that company to my friends and family.
