There was a loud humming sound coming from the electrical room. The company charged 100$ service call to come to diagnose the problem. A person called Mohammed showed up , then whipped out a book and said that it would be 387$ to diagnose the problem. As it was essential to know what the problem was , I agreed to it. It took him about 10 mts to see that it was a breaker switch that needed to be changed. He said that he has to get that particular part and come back to finish the job. His charge to then come back and finish the job - 100& for service call and an additional 250$ to finish the job. That would bring it to a grand total of approximately 800$ to change a breaker switch. Call this company only if you are willing to be ripped off !
Edit:
The company assumes that it has the facts about everything :
1. That the electrical work has been performed by non qualified people.
2. That no permit was taken by the electrical contractor for the home or the owners in a bid to save money.
3. It has completely overlooked the fact that a new home cannot be sold unless the building is up to code on all fronts including electrical. Which is why we have building inspectors in the City of Toronto. Unless the company assumes that they are also unqualified .
Nevertheless Mohammed called and offered to finish the job at no extra cost, if the part was bought by the home owner. I accepted his offer and Mohammed has completed the job satisfactorily, in a timely manner and at no extra cost.
What is noteworthy about the company is that it cares about its reputation. There are not many companies who do so , and who are willing to go the extra mile to counter a bad customer experience. A company that does so has the potential for future growth. . Going forward, I wish them all the very best.
