I was discouraged by poor customer service of a leading fireplace company in town and found fireplace west online. I have been very cautious dealing with contractors from previous renovation nightmare, but Robin has proven me wrong.

Robin, like many reviews say, is the only fireplace company in Ottawa that would come to my home to give me a proper estimate. Robin and Matty are very personable, professional, and efficient. Robin picks up the phone and returns email very fast and always makes himself available to answer my patiently. This is very helpful for a customer like me that don’t know much about fireplace.

It only took Robin and Matty half day to install my fireplace and they cleaned up very well afterwards.

Their price is extremely competitive and I don’t hastate to recommend them to anybody. I will definitely get in touch with Robin when it’s time for kitchen renovation.

When you and your son replaced our wood-burner with a gas fireplace in the fall of 2013, you assured Gordon and me that we would be spending much more time in our first-floor front room. How right you were!

Our old gas fireplace suddenly stopped working and my husband and I began the search for a quality replacement. We visited several area showrooms and then met with Robin from Fireplace West. He spent a long time with us and explained many options. We really appreciated his time and his recommendations led us to purchase the right unit for our space. He and his son have just completed the installation. We couldn't be more pleased. They were so professional and careful. We know that they thought of absolutely every little detail. They were extremely prompt and reliable. This fireplace purchase and installation was completely worry free on our part. In four years, we have used our wood fireplace once. Last weekend Fireplace West changed it to a full Napoleon gas fireplace. They had the best price, service and delivered it for Christmas. Its beautiful. They even did no charge extras like adding more insulation and fixing the tile grout. All in two days.
With a new baby, we are looking forward to a warm and comforting place to spend the winter. Merry Christmas, Matt, Dan and Robin.

I bought my first home two years ago. It was my dream home... except it did not have a working fireplace. I stalled for over a year because I was not comfortable with the vendors I was meeting. Then I met Robin and Matt! I was immediately impressed by their professionalism, knowledge and responsiveness. I contacted a few businesses about installing a freestanding fireplace (stove) in my finished basement. Some contractors were simply unprofessional, others too busy or would not work within my budget. Robin was helpful and professional fro the start. He suggested the right product, came over to finalize the details, and showed up with his crew the day and time he said he would. Within hours my new fireplace was installed and there was no mess left for me to clean up. He then followed up to make sure I was happy with the fireplace and the installation, and offered more tips and information to ensure optimal comfort and satisfaction with the product. It is very rare to meet someone with such high standards of service and such work ethics. I cannot recommend Robin more!

Robin and his team from Fireplace West did an AMAZING job for us. This was by far the easiest big purchase/reno project we have had yet, and we have had many over the years! Others made it seem far too difficult, expensive or not even feasible but Fireplace West did it and made the process very easy for us. A week after emailing Robin, we had our new fireplace installed and we are loving it.

Our story:
My husband and I have been trying off and on since 2010 to replace our zero clearance wood fireplace with a natural gas fireplace while keeping our brick wall intact (real brick not a veneer). Our fireplace is in our family room where we spend most of our time, it has large windows and skylights, it gets quite chilly in the winter. We tried using our wood fireplace a few times over the last 5 years but it really didn't help.
So we visited a few fancy fireplace showrooms in 2010 and inquired about our options. We were told our options were either a small gas insert OR destroying our brick wall to actually replace the fireplace. The latter option being too expensive, messy and difficult. We were disappointed with these options so we parked the project and tried again recently only to hear the same choices.
We were disappointed because we did not want a huge demo of our family room with two little kids running around. We were also not super keen on the small insert because our brick opening is quite large and we didn't feel it would suit our space.
We found FireplaceWest online and I emailed Robin on a Sunday morning with a few pictures and asked him about our options. We were not expecting a response on a Sunday, but Robin actually called us back shortly after and was at our house a couple of hours later. We talked about what we wanted, looked at the measurements and Robin helped us pick out our new fireplace right then, we chose the Napolean BGD42CF. He said he could cut out our old fireplace and replace it with this new one while leaving our brick wall intact. The cost of this was considerably lower than what we were told elsewhere and of course much less demo and time required. He ordered the fireplace that day. A week later it arrived, Robin and Matt did the install in two days. It looks absolutely fantastic, it fits the space and our house perfectly. It has totally transformed our family room. We have had a fire every night since. Our girls (2 and 6 years old) are also enjoying it, they love to snuggle up with us for story time in the evenings. They are also VERY excited to dress it up with stockings for Santa's arrival! :-)

Replaced a wood fireplace with a Napoleon gas. Fireplace West had a competitive price. Showed up on day and at time scheduled.
The install went great and the process was just as Rob said - no surprises. Cleaned up well after installation and took care to protect my furnishings and floors.

He got back to me in two hours and met with me the next day. We chose the best of three models, a Napoleon Clean Face, BGDCF36 with rocks and the job was done in just over two days. He dealt easily with our Condo Board, fixed some water damage behind the fireplace (common) and lived up to his reviews.
