Sub Zero refrigerator problem

From a scale of 1-10, I give this company a sold -9. This was one of my worst customer experiences. I would NEVER call or use these guys. They are simply dishonest. We put a down payment on a part and repair for the fridge. We waited for the part but then the freezer on the unit stopped working. We called to inform them about that but when the repair person came - he did not know. He gave us a quote to repair the freezer and told us that we could get a refund on all parts but had to pay for the service calls. When I contacted Quick Fix about getting a refund, I was told to contact customer service. But they will not take calls - only e-mails. Great customer service! They would not provide a refund. STAY AWAY!!!!

Very Disappointed - Washing Machine Repair

I called Repair Care Center based on the very high Home Star rating and reviews, but unfortunately, my experience was anything but positive.

I called on behalf of my parents who live in Ottawa. Their Kenmore washer had stopped draining water during the spin cycle, so Repair Care arranged to send someone out to look at it. In the first appointment, the technician spent over 2 hours to diagnose that it was a broken door latch that would have to be replaced. He had to order the part, but assured us that he had "overridden" the mechanism in the meantime so that the machine could still be used for laundry.

We did a load of laundry as soon as he left, and discovered the machine was leaking water from the bottom and overflowing at the top -- this had NOT been happening before. I called the company to let them know that the technician's "workaround" had created another problem. When the technician returned 2 days later to replace the door latch, he did not verify the leak problem -- we had to ask him to stay while we tested the machine, and sure enough, the leaking started right away. On further investigation, he found he had inadvertently disconnected a pump when re-assembling the machine (hence water leaking from the bottom) and further discovered that the flow control mechanism was "shot" (the machine could no longer detect water level in the tub and just kept filling it). I repeat, this problem only manifested itself after he had spent over 2 hours mucking with the machine during the first service call. He had to special order the replacement part, and came back a third time to replace it.

This whole process took 2 weeks. The company was dispatched by Repair Care Center, the invoices were on "Quick Fix Appliances" letter head, but the office personnel answered the phone with "Ottawa Pro Appliance" -- so I really didn't know who/which company I was dealing with in the end. The technician was unprofessional (I relayed this to their Customer Service department), and put my parents to considerable more inconvenience and expense than was necessary.

My impression is that Repair Care Center sub-contracts this work to other local vendors, without really answering for the quality of work or service. I would NOT use them again for that reason, and will instead look for a local operator, preferably one with referred by someone I know. Thoroughly unpleasant experience all-around.

Refrigerator defrost drain clogged

My freezer defrost drain clogs with ice. I email GTA Appliances for a quote and someone phones after 5 minutes.

A few days later. Chris from Quick Fix Appliances, shows up, and charges $226 to remove ice and defrost the frozen drain.

No diagnosis, no effort to check for a root cause. Nothing done that I didn't already do for myself. No guarantee at all, only a notation that it will cost me $600 for the next attempt.

Three weeks later, freezer is failing again. No expertise, freezer not fixed. This company seems to rip people off for shoddy work.

GE Fridge Repair

DO NOT USE QUICK FIX APPLIANCES FOR ANY APPLIANCE REPAIR! I have a side-by-side GE Monogram fridge that stopped working properly back in mid-July. The fridge was getting too cold and freezing everything. It's now October 1 and I have spent almost $1,500 in parts and labour and the fridge still does not work. In fact, nothing has changed from the dreaded day that I first called Quick Fix. No less than 5 different repairmen have visited, each of them suggesting more parts are required. The only thing that the last 3 repairmen have been able to agree on is the fact that the first $1,100 part was something that never needed to be replaced in the first place.... Customer service is terrible, none of their technicians show up to appointments on time and they seem to be incapable of actually fixing the problem. When it became clear to me that Quick Fix was not going to be capable of doing anything for me, I went to another company that was far superior. Here's the problem though. Quick Fix has refused to refund my $1,100 for that part that was never required unless I give them a chance to fix the problem. Their "fix" consists of coming up with another list of parts that actually exceeds the $1,100 cost of the unnecessary part..... It's unbelievable to me that these guys are still in business. If you look down the list of reviews below, you'll see that my experience is the same as everyone else that has dealt with this company. Save your money, time and aggravation and hire someone else for your repairs.

Sub zero fridge repair

My sub zero fridge was leaking & I called quick fix appliances as it had advertised same day excellent service ,by finding the company from the Internet.I called on August 25,2015at around 12pm & was told they will charge $80 for diagnostics & if I wish to proceed they will adjust the
amount in parts & labour.The
technician came within 2 hours of my call & in 5 mins of looking at the fridge told me that left side compressor for freezer is hot & low on gas & needs to be refilled& since it's a
sub zero fridge it is sealed & they have to run a separate copper line to refill the gas & have to order parts from the company & it will take 3-5 business days & it will cost $690 plus HST.A 50% deposit was required to order the parts & balance payment at the time of fixing also 5% extra will be charged if paying by credit card & they prefer cash.I gave $350 & he told me the technician will call me before coming.
Surprisingly the technician came the next day & he just filled
an inch of R22 gas from tube in 5 minutes& no copper line orany other part was installed as claimed by them while givinthe estimate & took the balance amount & left saying all is ok.
The next day the water was still leaking & I called the number given in the invoice & came to know it's a booking number & they gave me customer service number which I am calling since August 27,2015 without anyone taking the responsibility to resolve the issue.Unitially the customer service picked up my phone & just listened to my issue & said they have forwarded the issue to the manager & she will call back which she never did. After calling numerous times finally I got hold of Kareena & she said she is looking into the problem & arranging a part or seal of the freezer & finally the technician came on September 5th,2015 to install gasket & he said the problem is finally fixed & it will not leak anymore.
The next day when I checked the water was still leaking & I called the customer service & as usual got answering machine & have left 100 messages and also have emailed them numerous times but nobody is calling back or answering the email. And when finally got hold of Kareena she told me that we have to replace the old compressor with a new one as the filling of gas did not do the job.So now they wanted more $900 from me to do it without any assurance that the problem will be fixed or not.
The company like quick fix appliances which is offering the repair services in GTA,Hamilton,Waterloo!Kitchener Etc have inefficient technicians who do not know how to repair the appliances but are excellent in fleecing innocent customers of their hard earned money & how to take out the maximum money from the customers without fixing the fault. The company should be accounted for and shut down for its fraudulent style of working &fleecing innocent & trustingcustomers
The company is a total NO.once they take the money from the customer they don't reply back.Athe company is just to fleece innocent customers of their hard earned money and is a definite NO for any sort of reliable work.

front load washer repair

I should have looked up this companies reviews prior to calling them in. they didn't fix my machine and they don't return calls and they wouldn't provide any names of owner, supervisor or managers so other than the service tech Chris I will have to look up the name of the owner/contractor but I will and I will take the appropriate legal action. By the way folks this QuickFix Appliance Repair goes by several different names here are some Home Service on Grouse Rd., Maple Ontario and Appliance Repair. don't trust any of them!!!!!!!

LG Fridge Repair

I discovered my 10 year old LG fridge was not working Aug. 26th, and called Quickfix after talking to a couple other repair services who weren't available for several days & due to QuickFix’s advertising of same day service, and in most cases, same day repair, I chose them.

The technician did indeed arrive that evening and was very professional. He diagnosed a faulty capacitor or starter & estimated $300 roughly with a larger capacitor that would last for a decade or more.

I questioned spending $300 on a 10 year old fridge that was only worth around $1100 new, but he convinced me it should work, and that worst case, if that didn't resolve the issue (which we'd have to wait at least 24 hours to see) it would need a new compressor.

I then really questioned the logic of spending roughly $800 to replace a compressor, if needed, but he assured me that those are basically the only things that go wrong on a fridge, other then a minor inexpensive sensor. The basic components are the same in all fridges, and the compressor you use is the same high end one used in expensive Sub-Zero fridges, so once that's done, I'd be good for another 10 or 20 years.

We went ahead with the capacitor, and sure enough, it didn't work so I called the next day to have him come back and replace the compressor. He had told me that you have them in stock at the warehouse, so I again expected same day or next day service. This time I had to be wait for a return call from the special "Customer Service" department as this would be a return visit. It took another day to get this call back, and in the end it took 5 days for a return visit on Aug 31st to have the compressor replaced.

While the job was being done he said there was a small chance he'd have to return to balance the amount of gas in the system as he could underfill it without damage, but overfilling it would damage the system and... it takes 24 hours at least to see if it's successful.

I again waited the 24 hours, but nothing seemed to be happening so I called back to say it did in fact need the gas filled up. Again because I had to deal with the Customer Service dept. and since they can't be called directly without the call going to voicemail, I had to wait for them to call which meant another two days.

The tech returned for the 3rd visit on Sept 2nd to fill the gas up. Quite concerned at this point, I then questioned what could happen beyond the compressor if it didn't work. He told me the last resort would be to flush the system of piping that runs the Puron through all the coils, but that it's a difficult task and very corrosive to the fridge... and would cost an additional $800!

I said, that obviously that would not be happening as I would then have spent $1600 repairing an $1100 fridge that was 10 years old. He assured me though that this wouldn't be the case and that topping up the gas should do the trick and indeed seemed to be helping right away, but that we'd have to wait... that's right, 24 hours to see for sure. Success, by 5pm that day, ice cubes had formed.

I then went away for the long weekend happy only to return Sept 8th to find the fridge not working again, and in fact it was warmer then room temperature inside.

I called Quickfix the next morning, Sept 9th and again was told that only Customer Service could help me and that they would return my call by the end of the next day. I was provided with a direct number though and left a message as well, though I knew it wouldn't help.

I did get a call back at the end of the day from Karina (or something similar) who I had spoken with a week prior as well, and she basically said that there wasn't much they could do as I had been told that the next step was flushing the system for $800.

I argued that had I been warned that this was a possibility from the beginning I wouldn't have gone ahead. I was assured that the $800 spent on the compressor replacement would solve all my ills and last for many years. I agreed that on the final visit, he did warn me about the next repair step, but by then it was too late, and the technician & I discussed the fact that it obviously wasn't worth spending another $800, or a total of $1600 on a fridge of this age and quality.

Karina (?) told me she would discuss the matter with the technician that night or next morning and get back to me by the next day, being Sept 10th.

I anxiously awaited her call that evening and all the following day without receiving it. Finally around 5pm I called the Customer Service line and left a message asking for Karina to call me back ASAP as I have now been without a fridge for over two weeks, and if I need to buy a new one, I have to do so quickly as I'll have to wait another 4 days to several weeks for delivery.

I have still never heard back from them....

dryer repair

DO NOT use this company for your appliance repairs...same story as all the others. Their repair job only lasted 3 weeks. When I called them back to examine dryer a second time, they told me that they did not have the part and promised to come back to fix it within a couple of days. TWO WEEKS later...NOT EVEN A PHONE CALL. Their main number only takes orders, they refer you to customer service that never answers the phone and NEVER calls back! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!
