Beware of extra costs, and it’s best to have a secret Russian translator with you!
We hired a crew of 3 guys (Dmitri, Artem and I didn't get the 3rd name) to help us move from our 2 bedroom apartment to a house at the end of December. Luckily, we had great weather, so it was to be a pretty straightforward move.
Right away, the one guy tells us that it’s likely going to be an extra cost because the hallway in our apartment building was long. Then he said they didn't know about the stairs, even though it was right in the confirmation email I received from the company saying that there would be $30 flat charge for the stairs. It turned out that we were able to use the elevator after all, so we didn't use the stairs that much anyway- just for a couple of items.
A 2nd guy came in and the 2 of them started talking to each other in Russian, not knowing that my husband spoke Russian as well. He said something like, don’t talk about the price now, we’ll just hike it up at the end.
Overall, I was not impressed with these guys. They took a lot of smoke breaks, were insulting us and our furniture, saying we had a lot of crap and calling us names etc in Russian (not knowing my husband understood what they were saying), and would walk down the long hallway numerous times without carrying a thing! (while I went back and forth carrying the lighter items). I caught one guy DRAGGING our couch down the dirty stairs. I called my husband to go and help him lift it so that it didn’t get all dirty since it wasn’t a heavy couch. That’s really something that the other movers should have been doing with him, not my husband. If they were more efficient, our 7.5 hr move could have been done a lot faster.
When we got to the house, they parked blocking ¾ of the street and we had to pay for the $60 ticket they got, along with a $90 charge for “heavy furniture” since we had 2 dressers that they said were extra. And that day was also the first time we heard about the extra 3% charge for using visa.
I did not appreciate these surprises at the end, and the total rudeness and graphic Russian language of these movers. I would NOT recommend this company at all based on our experience. Only positive was the our items weren't damaged.
