I was thinking of doing this job myself but I wanted to get an idea of how much I could be saving. I saw a lawn sign of Baz's while driving to work one day and gave them a call. An appointment for a quotation was arranged and a gentleman showed up on time with sample sections.
I assume many other companies who do eavestroughs do it the same way but what was nice about these guys was that they form the aluminum on the spot. They have a roll of aluminum that comes out of their truck and the eaves are formed. The benefit of this is it leaves no seams between the runs. Even a section where it spans 40' they were able to do it in 1 pc. If I were to do it myself and went to a hardware store, I would be stuck with 12'/14' pcs with several joints along the walls.
The 4' or so sample the gentleman brought with him also showed heavy duty bracket every 2' with screws that were much larger and longer than the original. I calculated and I figured I would be saving at best a few hundred dollars so I agreed to have them do the job.
They worked efficiently and finished the whole job in one morning. It rained a lot the next day, and I was happy to see water flowing freely to the downspouts without any leaks.
Wire feed for surveillance camera was affected during the installation and footage for one of the cameras was cut-off. I let them know about this issue. Granted there were a few rainy days so this couldn't be looked after right away but they came back as soon as they could to make the necessary repair and fixed the issue.
The job looks great, and from my experience, I can say that these guys do come back to fix issues should there be any.
