True North Underpinning

We had a great experience with True North and would not hesitate to recommend them wholeheartedly. From first contact, the owner, Daniel, was professional, responsive and patient with our many questions. His estimate was detailed, transparent and accurate. The crew started the day they were scheduled to begin and finished ahead of schedule. We enjoyed having Sean, Kevin and Saul around. They were friendly and respectful of our home, even taking extra time to interact with our young boys who were enthralled with the whole process. We felt we were in good hands throughout the project and could trust Daniel and his crew to do the job correctly. They fulfilled our expectations and beyond.

We would absolutely recommend Daniel and his crew to others looking for a professional underpinning job for their home. They answered our million questions, and if they ever got tired of doing so they never let it show. They accommodated every request we made, and proactively went above and beyond to make sure they left things for us exactly as we'd want them. We have used Daniel and True North at two of our houses both times for major underpinning and infloor heating installation.

Having done many renovations over many years, I have rarely if ever encountered a contractor as professional and reliable as Daniel / TN. He knows how to plan and price a project and he's able to work through changes in the project in a way that's clear and fair.

He's highly knowledgeable so if you have technical or other questions he can always provide a reliable answer - not to mention help problem solve or work through options.

In our latest job there were numerous changes at our request based on how the project unfolded. Normally you would get a lot of complaining and often gouging due to changes. Not with Daniel and TN.

True Norther underpinned our basement. They were fantastic. They started the work earlier than anticipated, and were incredibly conscientious around our home. The work was beautifully completed, on budget and on time. We could not recommend more.

I had been thinking of renovating our 1930's home basement for some time, but we were weary of the process. We gathered a few quotes from various underpinning companies and chose True North, and are so glad we did! Daniel was great from the start. He patiently answered our questions and helped us understand the process. He was transparent about potential problems/costs that could arise to prepare us for an accurate quote. Once the project started, there were always about 4 workers present. There were very respectful, hard working and humorous. Trayvon could be heard singing some days- a good sign I would say. John, Lincoln, Fernando and Trayvon were there everyday, along with others at times. They cleaned up at the end of each day so that our backyard was never left in a mess. They used an outdoor porta-potty, so did not have to access the main floor of our house, which kept disruption and cleaning to a minimum, which was very appreciated. They completed their work as per schedule and Daniel communicated with our project manager to ensure ease of the finishing part. We had inspections completed at designated times, and the inspector commented each time about the great quality of work being done. I would highly recommend Daniel and his crew!!!

Our house was built in 1883 and has a field stone foundation. There was an inch of water in our basement every time it rained. Daniel and his team at true north underpinning were able to dig out our basement, create a new foundation (which will eventually also support a 3rd storey addition) and water proof the entire space. The guys that worked on the project were some of the hardest working and lovely people I have met in the construction industry. They were on site by 6:30am every morning and didn't stop until the job was finished. My house was left clean and respected the entire time. The final outcome was perfect, came within budget, and finished 1 week sooner than I expected- can't ask for more! I would recommend TNU without any hesitation it has been a nearly perfect experience.

We were very happy with the work that True North did for our basement underpinning last March. They were able to start early and completed the work in less than 4 weeks (ahead of schedule) and impressed my contractor so much that he says he will be using them for all future underpinning jobs. The crew was friendly, punctual and tidy. Daniel, the owner, is solution oriented and takes the time to educate and explain things well to his clients. He was very responsive when any issues arose. Great customer care! Would highly recommend.

The most positive experience I have ever had with a home improvement company. Finished one week ahead of schedule. Followed up with them twice after the work was completed and they had been paid in full and they still got back to me and answered my questions. I would definitely recommend.

We had an excellent experience with True North Underpinning. The crew showed up on time everyday during the entire duration of the project. The foremen were excellent, keeping us informed and helping us solve problems and make decisions along the way. The project was completed on time and on budget. We especially appreciated the little things the crew would do like clearing snow and moving our garbage bins, which shows they care about their customers.
