Ceiling repair

We had a large section of our plaster ceiling break away in our dining room. When he came to quote the job Shane let us know that the whole ceiling would have to be replaced but was quick to assure us he would keep the coving feature at the edges which was undamaged. When it got to the actual job, it turned out the coving had not been done square originally and he re-did it to an exacting angle, for no additional charge. The heavy layers of plaster needed in the corners meant extra drying time and more days on the job - again no impact to the budget. Our finished ceiling is beautiful! It is clear Shane is concerned with doing the job right and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend his company.

Ceiling refinishing

Shane and his team from McDermott Plastering did a fantastic job repairing and resurfacing my living room ceiling and I would recommend them highly. They were professional, punctual, courteous and gave me a variety of options to consider before providing me with a detailed quote. Their work was quality craftsmanship, and there was true pride in the smallest detail. Shane is a pleasure to do business with! I feel I got the best job at a very reasonable price.

Ceiling & Wall Refinishing

We would like to sincerely thank Shane and his Team for their exceptional work. We had experienced significant water damage on our living room ceiling and walls. From start to finish McDermott Plastering were very professional, from laying protective coverings on floors and windows, through to final finish. The results were extraordinary; fine finishing to the corner molding and completely level. The Team was punctual and worked extra hours in order to get the job done as scheduled, as quoted. McDermott Plastering - Strongly recommended.

Replastering cracked walls and ceilings, stucco removal

I am extremely happy with the job done by McDermott plastering. I have a vintage home built in 1882 that needed some walls and ceilings patched, smoothed and some old stuccoed ceilings made flat. I felt that plaster, as opposed to drywall, would preserve some authenticity and help maintain ceiling heights. These guys are the real deal in an age where it is virtually impossible to find plasterers. Shane, Ronan and crew were prompt, professional, honest and their work is beautiful. The house was carefully prepped to protect the floors and mitigate dust concerns. They did some extra patching and smoothing on walls beyond my concern without further charges. At the same time, Shane was sensitive to my appreciation of the charming 'beauty marks' and quirks associated with old homes. I found the price very reasonable considering the vast improvement in my home! I hope they enjoy many years of success in this trade; they are nice guys and they've earned it.

Repair and plastering of ceiling

Following a roof leak, I had two bedroom ceilings with significant damage. The house is over 80 years old and has lathe and plaster, so I wanted to have it repaired with plaster rather than pull down the entire ceiling and replace with drywall. Shane came by very shortly after I contacted him to provide a quote. They repaired the ceilings in only two days and did a great job keeping the dust contained and cleaning up afterwards. The ceilings look lovely now - very smooth and so much nicer than drywall. The price was as quoted, plus HST. Happy to recommend.

Levelling kitchen ceiling and re-doing some corner beads

Shane was very good before the job was given to him in explaining how he would fix our problems. He showed up on time to give the estimate and his communication skills convinced us that he understood the problems and was fully confident that he could resolve them. He outlined clearly what he needed us to do prior to his arrival to protect the cabinets from dust and remove certain obstacles like baseboards and wall brackets which were in the way. We did that. He and Phillip were very professional in their approach. They didn't use vulgar language while they were working which can be a problem with some contractors. Nothing flustered them; they were in control and seemed like they truly enjoy their work and know that they are skilled professionals. They worked quickly and efficiently and the results were excellent and they were never in doubt as to the success of their efforts. That is th emark of skilled tradesmen as opposed to 'handymen'. We are now able to finish off the crown mould and other trim work. Thanks guys. It looks great.
