Matt and his team did a great job on the installation of a new backyard patio and walkway for me. Taki and his crew worked very efficiently and always left the work site tidy at the end of the day - even my neighbours specifically commented to me about how impressed they were! I appreciated how Matt and Taki took the time to design the look of the patio, added extras (e.g. a planter) to enhance the design and came up with solutions to deal with the slope of our backyard. They made the construction a pleasant experience and I'm very happy with the end result.

Matt and his crew did an excellent and timely paver and curb installation for our front entrance and front entrance feature areas.
On budget as agreed and on time.

With most home reno and landscaping firms in Ontario being unlicensed and unregulated finding a good one at a reasonable price can be very much hit-or-miss. We just lost $3,200 on a different job for a deck where the guy slapped it together not level or straight or square and I had to rebuild it -- TWICE (because nothing was to code upon inspection by the city).

But sometimes you get lucky, like with Hard Rock Design run by Matt. Wow! What a difference. On time, on budget, all the details perfect. I can't say enough good things about his work and that of his guys. Check them out by searching for hardrockdesign and take a look at the work. He has a great eye for design, colours and details, so take his advice, we really liked how the stones he suggested match our house front brickwork. Really nice selection.

And while many firms will come in and turn the job around in a day or two, Matt and his guys purposefully leave the underlying foundation bed for a week to ensure it settles and, ideally, gets rained on to tamp it down adequately. I've seen many jobs in our neighbourhood develop depressions within a couple of seasons. You KNOW the guy is good if he offers a 5 year warranty as he's confident he's done it right upfront and won't have to come back.

On top of this, he owns his own equipment, he doesn't rent it from Home Depot or wherever, so he's got what he needs, when he needs it. His guys are pleasant and courteous and very helpful, going out of their way to accommodate the home owners' requests. Reasonable prices (the cheapest is rarely the way to go) and superb results. Highly recommended for interlock, excavation, removal.

We called several companies, but to our surprise were very disappointed in the response we received. Hard Rock Designs responded promptly, came to the house and listened to our ideas. They came back a week later with a design and cost. After a few tweaks, the project was within budget and on it's way. The team was very polite, and the owner himself was very diligent in making sure every aspect of the project was done correctly and cosmetically appealing. We did our drive way, side walk way and our entire back yard. People are always stopping in front of our home to see the work, neighbours are telling us they regret not using them, we love it, our kids love it - we are enjoying it. I would totally recommend this company...if you don't get them to quote, you are missing out.
