Stairs 2 U

Had an old metal railing and spindles removed for a new wooden one. About 15 feet of railing, 21 spindles, 2 posts.

Matt and Ted were punctual and completed on time for the agreed price (no hidden costs).

We weren't given any options other than stain colour, we had to investigate ourselves and request things (i.e. post shape, railing shape, spindle pattern).

I would have expected closer attention to detail:
- main railing had a noticeable machining mistake in it (I had to request it be removed and a new one put in)
- one of posts is slightly crooked to naked eye
- a nail in one of the spindles had gone through the railing
- un-sanded spot on one of the post.

We were extremely pleased with Matthew Gula and his partner Ted Laszta`s refinishing of our existing staircase. They took the utmost care in ensuring that the job was done to our satisfaction from the selection of the stain to minimizing the disruption to the household. Matthew promptly returned phone calls and resolved any issueséconcerns that we had. The end result was outstanding. We would highly recommend Stairs 2 U.

We wanted to be sure that Matt received kudos for his speedy and proficient installation of our downstairs railing. He was quick to give us an accurate, fair quote for the project and started on the job in short time (as we had requested). He finished on time and for the price he had quoted.

Matt worked around our family with two children and a dog, and was very pleasant in our home. He left his workspace completely clean. We were so pleased with his handiwork that we asked him to return to help with a custom woodworking project - we needed to build-in our dishwasher, and asked him to build the 'box' around the appliance to match our existing cabinetry. While he admitted he hadn't completed a job exactly like the one we had requested, we felt confident in his plan to build the box. He completed the job professionally and promptly, and on budget.

Overall, we highly recommend Matt's services. He is a capable craftsman who shows pride in workmanship, and proved to be reliable. Thanks for your help, Matt. We hope to use you again soon!
