The Garden Girls

We needed someone to look after our gardens while we were overseas for four months this summer. I contacted a number of companies on Homestars. Darla was very quick to respond, happy to be flexible with number of visits, amount of time spent in the garden, what to prioritize, etc. She was more than happy to try to work within a prearranged budget, and the hourly rate was very competitive. We hired The Garden Girls and went away. I was a bit nervous to leave the gardens because we landscaped the front in 2011 and it is still getting established. There is a lot of bindweed in the front and we really needed it to be kept at bay. I really shouldn't have worried at all. Darla kept in contact with me, sent us photos of the garden after some of their visits, and was extremely understanding when due to our not-entirely-observant house sitter I thought they had missed a visit. The garden looked immaculate upon our return- better than it ever had when we're in charge! Darla also managed to keep under budget, which was greatly appreciated, even while waging war on the bindweed (and it is really bad). I can say with confidence that we would recommend The Garden Girls to everyone we know, and we're already planning to enlist their help for when we're overseas again (for a shorter time) next summer. Our family has a very large vegetable garden and with our busy lives and my father turning 90 I decided to hire the Garden Girls to weed and maintain our vegetable garden. They have done an incredible job!! they certainly know what they are doing as with this cool, wet summer our vegetables are thriving! I would highly recommend them for any garden work. They have truly made a 90 year old VERY happy!

Darla and her girls are truly amazing.....not only are they very hard-working, but they are also very knowledgeable. Darla and Lucy came to introduce themselves and to get to know what I was hoping they would do for my garden, and then the team arrived in May 2013 and did the best cleaning job I have ever had done on the whole of the garden in a few hours. In the meantime they are full of reasonable suggestions and are very thorough taking pride in their achievements.
I consider myself very lucky that they have time to cater to my needs according to my budget when they seem to be so very busy with other clients. I love my garden and I am no longer able to work on it. But it now gives me pleasure to sit in my back yard, enjoying the fresh air and admiring the colour of my plants, many of which Darla & Lucy bought for me at very reasonable prices.
These girls are truly exceptional...I cannot say enough other than to say that they are also very friendly and pleasant.

Darla came to visit us in our garden for an initial consultation which was extremely helpful. Her team came back for a spring clean-up and we were so pleased that we would like to have them work with us throughout the summer to keep the place looking good. We are also looking forward to getting some new design ideas from her, as well as some basic know-how in so we can do a few jobs ourselves.

This is our first summer in our new home. We were completely overwhelmed with the gardens. Garden Girls came in April for a spring clean up. They were fast, professional and reasonably priced. We were very happy with their work. The gardens were very tidy and have started to grow in nicely. I would highly recommend The Garden Girls.

Darla, Lucy and team have done it again, playing beat-the-clock against an inclement spring with a May 4th wedding deadline: edging, weeding, primping with their custom-designed hanging baskets to add colour and pizzazz and voila! We were wedding-ready with no help from Mother Nature, thank you. Boy was that close! Two weeks ahead of the wedding The Garden Girls arrived as a team to work for four hours, turning my tears of frustration into tears of joy. One week ahead and the weather warmed enough for me to paint the eyesore trellis a natty aubergine. Then there was a flurry of back-and-forth e-mails and photos from Lucy and Darla at the garden center, guiding me to choose the right contrast of colour and type of flowers for the dramatic baskets, their special trip to drop them off to me, and within days of the wedding the garden glowed with three gorgeous demi hanging baskets popping on the trellis. On the day of the wedding we had a splash of forsythia, green grass, stunning baskets and a few bulbs up, along with 21 degree weather. Whew! Thanks again, Garden Girls for making our dreams come true and for following through on the promise you made last fall to make the garden ready for our daughter's wedding pictures. It looked magical.

Darla and her crew came to do a spring clean-up on our yard in early May 2013. I have nothing but good things to say about their services. They came when they said they would. Their quote was fair and accurate. They did a thorough job and it is clear that they take great pride in their work. This isn't a crew who just tears through your garden - they really took care with our plants. They even took the time to share some pointers with me on how to care for some of our plants going forward.

Overall, I was very pleased!!!

Darla & Lucy thank you for all of your hard-work last summer designing and planting our the privacy fence/hedge between our neighbour's pool area and ourselves. The tiered-staggered Emerald Cedars has provided us all with a lovely view and privacy. All of the Emerald Cedars are very healthy and growing. We are already out enjoying our back garden. I contacted Darla and Lucia and they visited me a month or so ago so that they could get to know my garden and me. I was getting a little desperate thinking about next spring because it's a big year for us and I want the garden to look just right. From the start, Darla and Lucia showed respect for and interest in what I'd tried to achieve with it but could no longer maintain on my own. She expressed appreciation for the variety of 'beautiful things' in the garden and an interest in restoring and enhancing its character, which is what I wanted. She later contacted me and suggested a fall cleanup before we tackled our spring plans. She and her team arrived promptly on the day as promised and managed to blast through several years of overgrowth, revealing all sorts of interesting possibilities. I am confident that between us, we will bring the garden back to where I want it to be. Darla has already made suggestions about how to prioritize the job. With her sensitive understanding of plants and the team's enthusiasm and energy, I can see that things will once again be set right. I am looking forward to working with The Garden Girls, instead of dreading the task of struggling to maintain the garden on my own. Thank you, Garden Girls!

Thank you Darla for sending Ruth Sheron Jenny and Betty to my large garden. Just weeding and cleaning up but it gave me a lift to keep going myself.
