Our fireplace has been out of service for a couple of years. While searching the net for someone qualified, came across the multiple reviews for Terry at TJ's. Although initial appointment was for next week, on short notice Terry called advising he was in the area. I was delighted to have him stop by as this weekend is the coldest yet this year. With a couple of replacement parts we were back in business. I had told Terry that I generally shutdown the pilot for the summer. He provided a great tip which was to light the fireplace each month for a day (particularly if it is raining) , to help dry out the lines and prevent spider webs from building up. This makes great sense as I previously experienced issues with spiders and my BBQ. He also tried to suggest my wife should stay in today instead of shopping because it was so cold. Although I thought it was a great idea, the cold doesn't stop a dedicated shopper or a dedicated technician as Terry is. It was a pleasure having him perform the service and I would certainly recommend him for any project you may have.

The pilot light for my gas fireplace has constantly gone out over the last 5 years, and the igniter was broken so I couldn't relight it myself. I called 3 repair places (BBQs galore, Brooms, and Abw Air Systems) and all of them had half-fixes for me. They would light the pilot with a match and then tell me I need to replace the entire fireplace (~$2000), or replace the entire igniter ($600).

I gave TJ a call and he agreed that although he recommends the fireplace be replaced because it isn't very good (he explained his history with the model I have), he went ahead and FIXED the igniter. Not only that, but he found that the reason the pilot kept going out was because there were a few holes directly underneath the pilot that had cold air rushing in. He plugged those holes and now the fireplace is in perfect working order.

I'm happy he took the time to explain everything to me. He even came to my house same-day, after business hours, to help me out.

When we first contacted TJ's Fireplaces and Gas Services, we had already been working with another company. When that company proved to have challenges meeting our installation dates (it had been 4 months already), we started contacting local companies for quotes. We then started to hear that there may be 'issues' trying to put a gas insert in our current wood-burning fireplace area...we had vendors offer to cut the marble slab around the fireplace to fit a gas fireplace, and were also told that we would not be able to convert it because there were no gas fireplaces that would fit the space. Luckily, we had been doing more research to find a vendor and came across TJ's reviews. We also received a recommendation to contact TJ's Fireplaces from a furnace technician whom we had been working with. Thankfully, we got in touch with Terry and not only was he able to install the perfect fireplace for us, but we decided to add a second fireplace in our family room and also have a BBQ line installed. Terry's service was reliable and efficient (he wasn't kidding around when he said he keeps the work space clean and tidy) and we look forward to working with him in the future!

My fireplace was old and always had problems. It was a huge dated corner brick fireplace attached to a bad chimney with rodent holes.
The basement is being repaired from a flood and I have dealt with quite a few people regarding that matter this year.
Finding Terry was such a relief. He is prompt, pleasant, honest and one of the hardest working people I have seen in a long time. His work ethic is amazing. He explains things easily and has great advice.

We recently moved into a century home in downtown Burlington.
As part of our insurance obligations, we needed to have our fireplaces inspected and I found TJ's Fireplaces on the internet. Our sole source of heat in this house is 4 gas fireplaces so it's critical from a health and safety standpoint that these are inspected and maintained properly.

We have worked with Terry now since the summer when we took possession and I feel very comfortable in referring his company. Terry has inspected all 4 of our gas fireplaces and replaced 2 of them that were 20 years old, dated and no longer functional. He is extremely knowledgeable and recommends what he believes will be the most cost effective and efficient option for each space.
