Sobol Inc.

Archiel and his crew have changed 4 windows in our house in June 2012. 4 windows were changed in total, two of which were corner windows, and 2 of which were large (almost floor to ceiling).
At this point I am rating the actual installation process.
Prior to settling with Archiel I have contacted 3 other companies, all of which are reviewed here on the HomeStars. Two of the companies estimates were about 1000 more while the other company was $6500. After some research and contemplation we decided not to take chances, plus, Sobol was installing VynilBuilt brand windows - the same brand of windows that got installed for us a year ago by another company that changed some of our windows as part of renovation.

What I liked:
- Archiel did not try to sell me things I do not need
- I was provided with a detailed breakdown of the work cost (I mean 2 pages worth of details)
- my request for oak casing in one of the room was accommodated at no additional cost
- I was able to choose different casing styles for different rooms.
- jamb extensions are preprimed.
- the connection between wall and casing is sealed with vynil sealant, which is great! The other company hasn't done it everywhere.
- no walls/floors/furniture was damaged. The removal of old windows was done very carefully, all garbage removed with nothing left behind. The previous company yanked a few pieces out of our plaster walls. They mostly patched it, but I had to do more patching and sanding after anyway.
- installation was done on schedule and finished on schedule

My only minor complains are
- the filler on jamb extensions wasn't sanded. I did it myself, but I would prefer not too.
- one of the casings had a splinter that one of the workers came after to fill in and sand as well as few small nail holes.
- the windows were somewhat dusty and dirty after renovation. The company came back and cleaned them.

Overall, I am really satisfied with the job and would not hesitate to recommend Sobol to anyone.

This company was recommended by a friend who is a very thorough researcher when it comes to home renovations, and who had used them earlier this year for window replacement. She thought they were excellent.
From the first contact, they were very professional in their approach.
The estimate was detailed and very clear. Once we had worked out exactly what I wanted done, with good advice from their head person, we set a date and they arrived exactly when they said they would. The window work was very professional, the men were not intrusive and were helpful, and I'm extremely pleased with all they did. The windows look great. I would not hesitate to recommend Sobol. They are a great find!

We hired Archie after a positive review by a friend and after having read reviews on Homestars. It was the wisest decision we made. Our project was to do two new window cutouts in the dining room and study and then replace the front door.
Archie not only provided a clear and transparent quote, but he stood by this price after work started and one of the cutouts was found to be more complex than originally thought.
Archie and his crew were here 4 days from 9am until 7pm and the quality of their work was fantastic - the framing around the windows is spectacular and the front door is excellent. In addition, Archie and his crew took great care in cleaning up and taking care of my house - which is not the case with most workmen!
Very highly rate Sobol ! You will not be disappointed.

Sobol first competed with several other contractors for my window and door replacement projects, in Riverdale Co-op, which owns a number of co-op housing buildings in the downtown east end. After the first set of projects was done, I was most impressed with Archie and his installers. They are knowledgeable and focused on customer satisfaction. Any problems that surfaced during or after the installation have been promptly and professionally dealt with. Sobol continues to do work for Riverdale Co-op. I highly recommend Archie and his team.

Fair price for top notch product and installation. No need to call in Mike Holmes to fix up shoddy work :) Arciel's work is excellent, excellent. Work site was clean and the waste was taken care of. Archiel came in for an estimate and the quote he provided was the price I paid after all the work was done. No suprises and no middleman sales commission to keep client's costs down. I had 7 windows (Vinylbilt brand) put in my basement of a bungalow house. It took a day and a half for Arciel and Lien to do the installation.

One must not forget even the small details like, the advice he provided for taking care of the vinyl windows, like putting some machine oil in the screen screws every so often and using jigloo lubricant (home depot) for vinyl to keep the slider windows gliding smoothly.

The windows were insulated with Hilti foam and the exterior caulking (Supra Mulco) is of the highest grade. This caulking is simply the best and made in Quebec, designed for Canadian climate, won't dry or crack.

I highly recommend this company and I am very happy with the work.

Excellent! My faith in contractors just might have been restored after using Sobol Inc. From the start, the written quote was professional and very easy to understand. Archie was exceptional - helping us match the grill design and colour of the new windows to exactly match the existing ones. The installation was quick, clean and efficient and I cannot say enough about Maga and Liem - both great guys. I plan on using Sobol again to replace some doors and highly recommend them.

Sobol just completed our project and I can't say enough positive things about this company. Our project consisted of a very large bay window, a picture window and a straight forward window in our 'soon-to-be-baby's-room'. Our home is about 100 years old and therefore, we were worried about the install right from the beginning. From start to finish, they have been professional, reasonable and their attention to quality and detail is impeccable. I would like to personally thank Archie for his amazing customer service, as well as Maga & Lien for their expert, clean and precise installation.

I found Archie's service through HomeStars. I was pleased with the service which was priced reasonably because there are no middlemen to be paid commissions. I would recommend them to all interested parties.

Sobol was hired to replace an existing window and built a raised flashed ledge. Archie, the owner, did the small window installation for a reasonable cost and the work was completed to a better standard than I was expecting. As a second job, they repaired a door that was incorrectly installed by a previous contractor. Instead of just replacing the door, they reworked the hinges and jamb in a clever way. Maga, one of the installers, even filed the tops of the new screws so that they would look similar to the others. The clever repair cost less than originally quoted and the door works fine now. I am very happy with their service and have recommended them to others.

Excellent attention to detail in removing old windows and installing new ones. Careful not to damage any furniture or exterior of home. Very knowledgeable on product. Very competitive pricing. Would use this company again.
