Pot Lights

Our pot lights were not installed properly by another company and they turned out to be a fire hazard. I called Larry to come and change them. He was able to come the next day which was great because we couldn't turn on our lights fearing a fire. They did a great job and it didn't take them very long. Also their pricing was very reasonable. Very honest guys. We had a bit of a snow storm so they also shovelled our drive way! Larry also checked out some outlets we were concerned about without hesitation. Can't ask for more. Will use them again.

light fixture installation

Called several electrical companies to replace an existing pot light in an ensuite bathroom with a chandelier. This required the installation of a box to connect the wiring to. All of the other companies that looked at the project advised me that they would have to cut open the ceiling to remove the old pot light box, which would cause a lot of damage to the ceiling and be very expensive. Larry appraised the job and determined that he could install the chandelier without damaging the ceiling. Within an hour he had the old pot light removed and the new chandelier installed without a mark on the existing ceiling and at a fraction of the cost quoted by the other companies. After his cleanup and departure you would not have known he was even there except for the new chandelier hanging in our bathroom. Great job by Larry and he is now officially our "go to" electrician. Goes without saying I would recommend his services unconditionally to anyone needing a professional, reasonable electrical job done.

Knob and Tube Wiring Replacemen

We bought an old century home, but found a large amount of knob and tube wiring that required replacing. HC Electrical came and completed the work on time and on budget with minimal holes in the walls. They patched any holes created and worked around my wishes to save a plaster textured ceiling in one of the rooms they were wiring. Overall I was very satisfied with their work.

Electrical Re-Wiring of Basement

I hired Larry to do some rewiring of my compeletly gutted and renovated basement. I needed to hire a ESA certified professional, as my house had been 'flagged' for electrical deficiencies. Larry came in and cleaned up the basmenet wiring (over 20 junction boxes), rewired new electrical to the new framing, and even went as so far as rewiring my main floor (kitchen not to code, etc). It took a bit longer than expected (do to the extra issues) and cost more than the quote (to again, fix the extra issues - wasn't discussed how much extra, just a number popped out at the end), but overall the work was fantastic. Larry and his team took care and made sure everything was done properly and I passed my ESA inspection no problem!

Icestorm rescue by HC Electrical

On Sunday December 22nd, we woke up with no power after the ice storm. The falling trees had caused damage to the main power line that was connected to the service panel and we needed to get an electrician right away. I research for electrical services and decided to call HC Electrical Service. Larry was able to schedule me in for Monday 8 pm and that was really very nice of him and his crew especially in the cold weather. They showed up at my house on time and worked past midnight to get everything connected. The next day Toronto Hydro came and reconnected the line. I am glad that I was one the first to call Larry and get scheduled in as a lot of my neighbors did not have power until after christmas. HC Electrical Services was prompt, efficient and did a professional job. I was happy because of them, I had a great christmas with my family.

Thank you HC Electrical Services........

Check wall switch, install GFCIs, check dead wall socket

I called HC Electrical Services after reading a few reviews on HomeStars. Larry arrived when he said he would, went over my list of what needed to be fixed, and quickly went to work. Although the work I needed to be done was minor, he spent the time to fix and check everything.

What I liked about Larry was that he explained how everything worked and what was wrong with each issue. For example, the wall switch was wired incorrectly by the previous owner - a quick fix. I didn't need two of the GFCIs installed as they were already protected. The other two GFCIs were my option to install due to the wiring on the circuit; I chose to leave them as is. And the dead wall socket was a wiring issue extending from another socket in the room.

Larry also rewired a wall switch for me to separate a wall socket and an overhead light.

Throughout, Larry could have easily upsold me on repairs I didn't need, but he didn't. Instead, he explained everything so I could better understand the wiring in my home.

I'm glad I called HC Electrical. If I have another electrical project in the future, I will certainly call Larry and his team first!

Knob and Tube Replacement

We just purchased an old home with knob and tube wiring which needed replacing prior to moving in and we had a very short closing date. Larry we wonderful he provided a quote quickly and was able to start work almost immediately. We choose him over other electricians because he thoughtful about the little things. As opposed to simply adding the minimum requirement he suggested things that would make living in the home far more convenient- whenever I need a plug we have one! He also promised and delivered very few holes, as we have plaster walls it was a huge concern and he filled them in! I would recommend Larry and his team, they were great!
