Contacted canwood based on the reviews at homestar and everything worked out perfectly. Starting with meeting with Ali to coordinating an appropriate schedule as well as the actual execution of the project.
We got canwood to remove our existing hardwood floors and replaced with a new hard maple flooring including removing old moldings, applying a runner on our stairs etc.

At the end of the job we were very satisfied with the work it was completed on schedule, the quality was excellent and the project was executed within the estimated budget.

My fiance and I recently bought our first home and wanted to replace the carpeting on the top floor and stairs to match the hardwood floors on the main floor. My parent's house had recently been fitted with hard wood flooring by Canwood, so we called Ali based on my parent's recommendation. We knew right off the bat, Ali's wasn't the cheapest quote we would receive, however, after speaking to several contractors about the job, and knowing the quality of work and the level of customer service that Canwood provides, we decided to proceed with Ali and his team - and we weren't dissapointed!
A few things that makes Canwood Flooring standout from the crowd:

1) Customer service: It started with Ali coming over to the house to provide an intial, detailed quotation - even though the distance was quite a bit further for him then his usual Toronto / York Region area - he made it out without a complaint. We were quite nervous as this was the largest single expense that we were incurring since purchasing the house, and as such had quite a few questions / concerns about the job. Ali was very sensitive to our situation and always returned our calls and provided us with the reasonable responses to our queries - no matter how trivial they may have seemed to someone in the trade biz! Not once did he make us feel like we weren't worth the trouble. Even after the job was completed, Ali came back to fix a few cosmtetic things, and let us borrow his Shop vac for the initial move as we had not purchased a vacuum at the time! Little gestures like that make all the difference and we are very glad that we made the decision to go with Canwood.

2) Delivering on timelines: One of the caveats to awarding the job to a particular contractor was that we wanted the job completed within a week or so before we moved in! We talked to a few contractors that gave us a few reasons why it wasn't a good idea to complete the job that quickly - including one guy who stated that it would be easier to move our furniture if the carpet was on the stairs - so he was doing us a favour by not installing them when we wanted them installed! When we told Ali about our timeline, he not only agreed that he would complete it on time - he himself was there late at night helping his team complete the job so that we could clean the house and move in when we wanted to! Needless to say - we were delighted!

3) Quality of work / Attention to detail:
Our newly installed floors are a beautiful match to the existing flooring. We had asked Ali if he could also install wrought iron pickets instead of the normal wooden ones - he did a wonderful job on these in spite of the fact that the stairs were a challenge to design. We are very pleased with the results!

4) The Non-Sales-Man-Approach: Call it reverse psychology, but Ali and his team are the most down to earth - professionals we have ever dealt with. Ali was never pushy - although he did folllow up a few times to ask if we had made a decision regarding the job. He has a very calm / professional demeanor and not once did we feel like we were getting duped or not getting the best products / service for our money!

Overall, we would certainly recommend Canwood Flooring to any of our friends / family without a second thought!

Ali and his team did an outstanding job and we couldn't be happier. We put hardwood in our bedroom, matched to the existing hardwood on the main floor, replaced the main floor baseboards and fixed the stair nosings that previous hardwood installers had 'messed up'. From the start Ali was responsive and accommodating, coming to the house to view the job, and brought samples to compare against the existing floor. His estimate was competitive - not the cheapest not the highest. We were not deal shopping, but wanted a quality job at a reasonable price. Once we agreed on the estimate he came out again to do final measurements, and his brother made a further visit to show us the stain they would put on the baseboards, against the original floor. Ali was able to accommodate us between big jobs so he could start within 2 weeks. The team arrived as scheduled, and spent the first half day prepping. This was maybe longer than expected for one room but they took extra care to prepare properly and screwed down all sections of the subfloor to eliminate any squeaks. They also carefully removed the existing baseboards so they could be reused in another room downstairs that had none (oh and they did that for us too, no extra cost). We had removed the small items from the room but left the bed and dressers - the team looked after moving those for us. They were able to do the cutting outside which eliminated a lot of dust/mess inside. We were impressed with the quality of the job, noteably the fitting around our built-in shelves and baseboard heaters, even inside the closets. The job on the main floor baseboards and stair nosings was excellent, and now match the floors beautifully. They even noticed and repaired a warped board on one of my doorways, totally unrelated to the floor work. They left the house clean and beautiful, took out all the old carpet and baseboards and cleaned all evidence of the sawing/flooring work. All of them were courteous, friendly and skilled. I will definitely go directly to Canwood for future flooring work, without any shopping around.

In summary the things that were important to us were responsiveness, home visit/estimate, quality work, willingness to move furniture so we didn't have to, clean up, quality product, handling extra requests that came up. Canwood excelled in all of these.

Canwood flooring were hired to install hardwood flooring in my parent's house. They are very knowledgable about the products they offer and were very efficient at completing the job on time. They paid great attention to detail and were very attentive to our needs.

Canwood Flooring did hardwood flooring and tile renovations to our condo in Richmond Hill, Ontario in 2005 and 2010. Their work is very professional and the staff were able to complete the tasks on time.
The end result was more than we had hoped for enhancing the condo even more to make it more presentable!

We have finally reached the end of our house renovation and we are beyond thrilled to have it behind us. Our renovation included a redo of our entire main floor and half of our second floor. We had decided from the beginning to have new floors installed on the main floor. Engineered flooring wasn't really an option (no crazy about the look) so we opted for raw solid oak flooring that would match the original floor on the second level as close as possible. Canwood flooring did an amazing job with the installing, sanding, staining (Chestnut)and finishing. This included our stairs and our banister. The second floor was sanded and stained to match the main floor and it all looks stunning. They are true professionals, always friendly and they didn't leave until we were satisfied. Not once did they give us grief when we had a concern. This is very tough to find in any company you hire but a thousand times tougher when you are going through a major renovation. They just listened and made it right. I would recommend them without any hesitation whatsoever and will hopefully be using them again in the future. Thanks Ali.

Canwood flooring inc was installing hardwood floor in our neighborhood. I went to see their work. It was job done very well and thus I hired them to install hardwood in my place. Again they did very good job and I would recommend them for this kind of work

The floor looks better now than it did from the origional construction. We were hoping that a good restoration could be done, given the poor state of the floor. I highly recommend Canwood flooring, they were well worth the price.
