We were searching high and low for a professional and reputable concrete company to do our full driveway, both sides of the house and warp around the back with exposed aggregate concrete. After talking to few companies, we came across Stone-Ridge Paving & Concrete company and selected them to carry on the project.
We had several lengthy conversations with Marchello from Stone Ridge where he took his time to visit us few times and to clearly explain the whole process to us. We really appreciate him taking the time to go over the details of every step of this big project and answered all our questions.
Marcello was patient with us to entertain several options available to us and put our minds at ease with the whole process. Marchello also introduced us to Sal who would be overseeing the excavation and the concrete pouring process and again answered all of our questions and explained the extra care we need to apply to an exposed aggregate concrete that requires more maintenance than regular concrete. We appreciate the time they took to measure everything twice and to point out al details of the work and what we should expect throughout all stages of the project.
In late April of 2024, the weather was warm enough for the crew to start the work. Marchello and Antoniette from the office called us to advise of the possible days when the excavation will begin. We were ready for it and the excavation started on Monday morning. Sal was present during the excavation and Marchello also passed by to inspect the progress and again pointed out the next steps of what was to be done
The excavation crew worked quickly and effectively and removed all the old driveway and patio slabs, and the driveway was formed and cleaned and ready by the end of the day. We were very impressed by discipline and high level of organization presented to us during the excavation by the workers.
We had several days of rain that delayed the next steps, but we were prepared for it and we knew that we were at the mercy of the weather.
After few weeks, when the weather finally warmed up again, we were told that the concrete will be poured that morning and even though it was a last-minute call, it did not bother us because we all understood that we have a window of good weather that we needed to take advantage of. By that time, the soil and the driveway were well settled, and the pouring started in late morning. Though it was a different crew than the excavation crew, they did a great job and were paying attention to the work they needed to do without rushing the job. The crew of five workers, poured the concrete and took their time to make sure that our gazebo in the back yard was covered by sheets as well as the pine tree in front of the house during the spraying of the curing delay spray that will work towards exposing the stones in the concrete.
After this process, they cleaned up all their work and washed all the sides of the house from al the dirt that was accumulated in this process.
After concrete fully cured, Sal and crew came back to clean the surface in order to seal the concrete.
All in all, the whole process almost too five weeks but since all was explained to us and we understood the importance of not rushing this job, the results were just absolutely stunning,
We were very happy with the whole process of starting the dialogue with Marchello and Sal, working out all the details and steps, and the attention to details. We truly felt that they treated this project as this was done to their own driveway, and once the job was finished, Marchello, Antionette and Sal came by to see the work for themselves.
We also asked Marchello for a quote us for additional river rocks that we wanted to have between the two paths between our house and the neighbours. Stone Ridge also laid beautiful river rocks that really complemented the concrete work.
We recommend Marchello and Sal and Stone Ridge without hesitation and we appreciate the care they provided to make sure the work was done to perfection.
