We had Natural Landscape install a pond and complete stonework in our back yard We love it. The staff was very accommodating as we made a few changes in the middle of the process and they were able to give us what we wanted. Would recommend Doug to Anyone.

With my the small backyard, Doug and his crew turned the yard into a small little paradise. Awesome work they do with attention to detail, combining the look of a modern patio, the boulders used giving the look of a paradise!

Our oversized pie-shaped back yard is now transformed into a private park-like setting complete with 35 tons of boulders, two tier water feature, flagstones, custom Japanese-style cedar fence on top of retainer wall, massive Cedar arbour, a small amount of grass, and four different yard levels!

We approached Doug after seeing what he did on a friend's backyard. He quickly responded and we then met to discuss the job. After providing us a color drawing of the proposal and quote, the work then started several weeks later, and took approximately 8 weeks to complete to 95% - very close to the target completion date.

The end result was much better than the original plan (but also more costly). Doug is very creative and passionate - it is fun to watch him work and you can tell he loves his job! He has a masterful eye on boulder selection and placement. On occasion we butted heads as my attention to detail complemented his creativity. In one example our water feature was per specification despite several discussions on the topic, yet Doug rectified the issues and re-did the feature. In another example the flagstones were supposed to be 2" thick, yet many were 1 or 3/4" thick (Doug has agreed to come back to rectify).

Doug has many talented people working in his crew, and the single thing I struggled with is ensuring the correct individuals understood the end vision of what was to be delivered. As Doug improved on the plan as he went, the crew was not always knowledgeable of discussed/agreed enhancements and it was frustrating seeing rework.

As of writing the review, we still have some outstanding items to complete and as the plants were installed at end of the season it is very difficult to see the full impact of the transformation (Doug guaranteed all plantwork for a year as it was end of season). I cannot wait until next year to see everything growing in!

I would highly recommend Doug for his creativity and ability to transform a yard into a natural looking landscape!

Both my front and back yards were in a sorry state after years of neglect.
I contracted with Doug Bourgoyne of Natural Landscapes to create an entirely new and fresh vision.
The main feature in the front yard was a dry river bed surrounded by Rundle rock boulders, grass, trees and perennials.
My neighbours were wowed by the new look, which now exeeds the appearance of many of their front yards.
My back yard was initially worse than the front yard, which I tried to keep up for the neighbours' sake. I just couldn't control the weeds in the back as the previous landscaper just did not do a professional job.
I fought with the resulting landscape for fifteen years until I couldn't stand it any longer. It was so bad that I didn't want to look out my kitchen window at the back yard every time spring arrived as it was depressing.
So, in the back yard, Doug designed and executed the following:
• a new deck made with composite
• a new and beautiful patio shaped with grey pavers
• a hillside (since my property descends from the back lane) with large Rundle rock boulders as retainers, some considerably larger than in the front yard
• a waterfall that flows down diagonally across half of the yard ending in a pond
• various shrubs, grasses and trees placed strategically across the landscape
• steps leading up from the patio to the back fence/lane
I also had an irrigation system installed both in the front and back of my property in order to minimize maintenance.
Doug excels especially at 'hardscape'. You can call him a master landscaper but I could easily categorize him as an artist.
He wanted to deviate from the original plan for the back yard while he was in control of his bobcat. He told me he had a better vision to place the boulders and waterfall in real time. I could not visualize what he had in mind but from my experience with his creativity in the front yard, I held my breath and agreed to let him do what he wanted. The final concept was much more beautiful than the original design, although I would have been very satisfied with the original plan as well.
Doug also has a savvy group of young, hard-working and affable helpers that do the planting and help fashion the landscaping, but Doug himself is the one in charge of the
bobcat as he carves out his vision.
I could easily compare Doug and his bobcat to an artist with his brush and canvas.
Those neighbours and friends that I welcomed into my backyard were astonished at its transformation into a little Garden of Eden and I received numerous accolades.
When the landscaping was finished, I mostly saw green, green, green among the black and white Rundle boulders and brown mulch, but as the summer progressed, I began to see various plants flower with reds, pinks, yellows, whites - the gamut.
It was especially exciting to see new colours almost every other week.
There are some minor adjustments that will have to be made, as with all projects, but that is being left till next spring and that is fine with me.
All in all, Doug is a master landscaper with an uncanny artistic bent.

Doug and team designed and built exactly what we wanted - a beautiful and low maintenance front garden and walk way. It has been such an improvement. The neighbor liked it so much that she hired him also!
And then we hired him again to rescue our back yard. it is now a quiet shade garden that is positively thriving.
Overall, we're thrilled with what Doug and team delivered!

So impressed with Doug's professionalism. He was always quick to get back to me as soon as he could if I needed to talk to him. I was dealing with damage done to fencing and interlocking brick by a contractor next door who took out the underpinnings for my fence during excavation. Doug redid the fence and brought in and installed new interlocking pavers in a quick and timely manner.

Doug is an incredibly gifted and creative landscape artist! The transformation in our property is STUNNING with a gorgeous waterfall that cascades over sparkling rocks into our small lake. We now have a sandy beach in a park like setting. It is so wonderful to be able to sit and watch our granddaughter building sandcastles and playing in the water while we relax by the spectacular fire pit. Doug's vision and talent went way beyond what we could have hoped for. Doug and his crew were friendly, honest and it was such a pleasure to work with them. His pricing is extremely fair and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking to create beautiful landscapes!

Doug from Natural Landscapes has been a pleasure to work with. I had already completed some of the landscaping but needed that extra special touch to bring it all together. Doug quickly came up with a design incorporating a pond and flowing creek. His ideas of plants and layouts easily make the yard look extra special now.
He crew were amazing, polite and super easy to deal with. With some contractors you never know the character of the individual that will show up but I quickly realized I would not have this concern with Doug and his crew.
It was an amazing experience and I highly recommend Natural Landscapes for your project; big or small.

A beautiful coloured design layout of the ideas we discussed over my kitchen table was presented to me just a couple of weeks after our first meeting and in short order, the equipment started arriving and the job was done in a week!! They even cleaned up the road and driveway and the unoccupied lot beside me looked better when Doug was finished than before he started! Amazing job! All my neighbors are jealous

Great plan. Great execution. Crew worked long and hard, making sure all was right with our job. All the workers were prompt, courteous and thorough, and took a lot of pride in their work. Just a great group of men and women.
