Hardwood/Baseboard Installation

We found Peter the salesperson helpful in the selection process. Pricing was not the lowest and believed the service/warranty would make up the difference. We found it did not. We noticed after about three months our dining room showed signs of water leak that lead to our basement. Our plumber arrrived and confirmed that the slow leak was caused by a nail used to install the baseboards by AA Floors. Only after leaving several messages of our concerns, we received a call back from Peter. He at first said he would come to our house to investigate, but later said he would not and his company was not responsible for the leak. We asked to speak to the owner Ross, but Peter said he would not call us back since if was not his companys fault. This summer we had a contractor renovate our upstairs washroom and he showed us the nail that caused the leak which reminded us to post our review. We've had the pleasure to review other companies, and provided good reviews, AA Floors not one of them. Buyer beware.

I'm sorry to hear of your unfortunate plumbing mishap that occurred 1 month after the installation of your floor, but the problem was identified to be a building code violation, where the piping was not properly installed and shielded from mechanical damage. We consulted an independent licensed plumbing firm for an evaluation of the issue and they confirmed that piping should be nowhere near where a baseboard brad nail is capable of penetrating it, and if present for any reason, steel shielding plates are required if the pipe is less than 1.5" from the surface. This distance is measured from the outside of the pipe (not the centre) and the appropriate building code reference can be found in section 7.3.5.5. of the Ontario Building Code. We used a standard 1 3/4" 18-gauge brad nail to fasten the baseboads and to date, have never experienced this type of problem after 12 years of installing flooring and mouldings. I am truly sorry that you could not fully enjoy your flooring as a result of this, but neither us, nor any other flooring company would have been able to foresee and avoid a problem of this nature, and be held accountable for the ensuing leak. You should always factor in a reserve to your construction budget so as to anticipate accidents and unwelcome discoveries such as your incorrect piping distribution. For the record, we supplied and installed a Superior Hard Maple solid floor for below vendor cost (it was on clearance for $3.45/sq. ft.) with baseboards, and believe that we fulfilled every obligation to you with respect to the flooring and installation.

2nd Condo Floor Installation

I have used AA Floors on two condo units over the last couple of years and have been absolutely satisfied with their service. The prices are reasonable, the workmen are professional and in both instances they were able to complete the job in a single day (first job was a 660 sq. ft. 1+1 bedroom condo, second was a 870 sq. ft. 2+1 bedroom condo).

Ground Floor

They were very helpful, took the time with me in the show room, let me take samples home to see in the space (which helped a great deal)

It arrived in time and was exactly as I wanted.

I had my contractor install so have no comment about their installers but the show room customer service was great. Peter helped me and was very warm, attentive and knowledgeable.

Bought engineered hardwood for condo

My first experience when I walked into AA flooring was great. I liked their samples and their pricing.
There are a few problems though with this company. The flooring that they provide are short pieces of wood, all of different lengths. They are not long and consistent. Also, they will not accept the return of a damaged box if it has been opened. We accepted the box because the driver said it was ok to check the extent of the damage, and returns shouldn't be a problem. When we opened it up most of the pieces were damaged, but they wouldn't take it back, saying that i shouldn't have accepted the box in the first place. So make sure to check all products before you accept it, and directly refuse to accept any damaged box, even if it comes from their driver, with their truck.
Also, be very specific when you buy flooring, ask if they have identical matching transition pieces that go along with the flooring. For the one i picked which was engineered, I was stuck having to make custom transition pieces, which ended up being more expensive than what I would have liked to spent. They don't have matching transitions for engineered hardwood, so be very careful with what you are buying.

Response to company's post: In no way did my review directly target your company. I have written an exact experience that I had with your company. To say that my review was "not done in good faith", and "not accurate or genuine", you have insulted me directly and criticized my character. You do not have that right to use harsh and insulting words at a client for posting a review. I'm truly appalled that Homestars has not asked you to edit your post. It's unethical and insulting and speaks volume for the company you represent.

Hi, thanks for the feedback and I'm sorry that you've encountered some problems with your purchase, but this is not an entirely accurate or genuine review.

You purchased an engineered floating hardwood floor which is a man-made floor, where the lengths are determined during production. Normally the lengths are all uniform, and randomn lengths are seen as a desirable feature, since that emulates a real solid hardwood floor where the pieces are also mixed. Furthermore you were informed that the pieces would be no longer than 4 feet and the boxes are no longer than 4 feet as well, and you were personally shown the box. It's hard for us to imagine, after reading your review, that this somehow came as a surprise to you.

The delivery issue was a miscommunication. The driver advised you to return the damaged box or consume it if practical. You chose to open it and then return it. We do not accept opened boxes. We would have no objections in simply exchanging the damaged box had it been left unopened.

We offer unfinished transitions for most of our builders and professional clientele as well as a limited number of prefinished mouldings. It is not physically possible to have a matching transition for every one of the over 400 colours of wood that we offer. This was clearly communicated to you in person and over the phone. That you chose to mention this here is an indication that your review was not done in good faith, despite our best attempts at alleviating all of your concerns.

We hope that your next interaction with us is to your complete satisfaction.

Engineered Hardwood Flooring

We shopped around at many places before choosing flooring for 2 rooms in a new condo. AA Floors had both the best product and the best pricing. We went into the store numerous times and every time the sales staff were very helpful and patient with us. Installation was done on time and done right. We were very impressed. We then referred AA Floors to a neighbour and they had a great experience as well and also said they had the best price.

Flooring product & delivery

We chose one type of flooring but by the time we were ready to order, it was no longer available. Peter at AA flooring was extremely helpful in finding a replacement and even matched the price of the item he had quoted us previously, which was a bit lower.
Much appreciated! Tx.

800 sq ft of hardwood for Living Room

Although the cost would've been cheaper we wanted to ensure the work was done properly. We choose a nice wood grain that matched our cabinets in our open kitchen concept home.
The staff were very polite and knowledgeable and helped us select the right wood.

Make sure you do your research, there are many variates of hardwood available. Different wood, kinds, colour, material. It can range from .60cents a sq/ft up to $5/sq ft.

Overall, work was done in 2 days with the first one for prep, carpet removal and getting nails out.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,200.00

Family room flooring

I wanted to replace the old hardwood in my family room because it was old and had some sound when walking on it. I called a few guys and liked their price. The whole job took 3 days. I could tell they worked pretty fast and good. There weren’t much disturbances so I was happy. Would definitely recommend them to friends.
