Re-route some pipes for a kitchen remodell

I am currently re-modelling my kitchen and needed to move some plumbing as I am re locating the kitchen sink to an island. I found Priority Plumbing online along with a couple of other companies. I must say that they were by far the most professional and it was a "no brainer" of a choice. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a plumber and will use them to hook up my fixtures when I complete the remainder of the job.

New Water Heater

I was out on a Sunday afternoon when I got the call that my laundry room was flooding! It couldn't have happenned at a worse time because I was rushing around town, trying to get home in time as I had dinner plans that evening. I didn't know who to call so I asked a friend who highly reccommended Priority Plumbing. They came out that day within 1 hour and identified the problem as a leaking water heater. Within a couple of hours the problem was fixed and I was still able to keep my dinner plans. Steven was very polite and very knowledgeable. His work was very neat and professional. He wore shoe covers and was very careful working in my home. I feel lucky to have called Priority Plumbing and will definitely use them again should the need ever arise. Thanks Priority Plumbing!

Required a plumber to hook up a brand new faucet on a bathroom counter.

I called Priority Plumbing and was told that there would be a $49 service call whether they did the job or not. I asked what their hourly rate was and I was told there was no hourly rate. I found this odd but I also knew that the job of putting a faucet onto an already existing and hooked up water system would be straight forward and would take little time.

The gentleman that came was very nice, the girl on the phone was very nice. I could not believe that he quoted $750.00 to do the job. I had a master plumber come and do the job - he was in and out in 45 minutes - cost was $140.00. I HAD TO PAY THE $49 TO PRIORITY PLUMBING FOR THE SERVICE CALL. WHAT A RIP OFF - THEY MUST MAKE A BUNDLE JUST DRIVING AROUND THE CITY MAKING OUTRAGEOUS QUOTES AND COLLECTING $50 WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING.

Company Response

Dawn,

Who ever you hired for $140.00 may have been licensed, but is he a "guy" or a company. The main difference is that there is no way you will be able to "consistently" rely on this "guy" when you need him most. A "guy" in a white van and a toolbox hardly can compare to the benefits to dealing with us. Is his work guaranteed? Will it leak and if so will he honor the guarantee? For how long? Is he available 24 hours a day? Is he insured if something happens while working in your home? Does he keep records of your work for future reference? If the work was extensive, does he offer flexible payment options? How long does he warranty parts? Our work is guaranteed for life, we offer same day service, hire only the best plumbers in Toronto and are fully insured. Our trucks are always fully stocked and ready to serve you "consistently" 24 hours a day. I'm sure if you shopped around some more you could have gotten the job done for $100 by someone who does plumbing as a "hobby" and not a professional company. We sit down and examine our prices every 3 months to ensure they are fair and accurate for the consistent value our customers demand. I'm sure you will see the value of hiring and paying a professional one day, if you either can't get a hold of your "guy" when you need him or he doesn't honor the workmanship. As for the $50, it did not even cover our technicians wage and the gas. It's not like it went straight into his pocket as profit. But the $140.oo went straight into your"guys" pocket because he does not have the overhead it takes to run a real business. Best of luck in the future. We are here when you need us in the future 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

New Water Service

Hi Austin,

Just wanted to let you know that Dave and his colleague who did the work at our place over the last two days were extremely professional and courteous, and from what we can tell did an outstanding job of the pipe replacement. They went out of their way to inconvenience us as little as possible when turning off the water, left both the yard and basement spotless from their work, and even went beyond the call of duty when removing a rose bush by planting it in a temporary unused pot overnight to assist in preserving it.

We wanted to thank them ourselves but didn't manage to catch them before they left so please pass along our sincere thanks.

And thank you and Steve for your excellent service and work as well. We are glad to have discovered your company. Would highly recommend you guys!

Best regards,

Valorie and Neil Block

Emergency plumbing

I was at home with my two young children without my husband who manages our property when I received a call from a distraught tenant at who had a dangerous leak in their radiator. I couldn’t get a hold of my husband and didn’t even know if I should call a plumber or a heating specialist. I luckily remembered the name of the company…Priority Plumbing. They responded immediately and sprung into action - even though it was a Saturday evening. They showed up and calmed everyone down with such experience, professionalism and knowledge that the problem was resolved quickly and everyone was able to return to enjoying their evening.

I was so impressed and relieved that we had such a reliable and responsible company taking care of our needs now and in the future.

Thanks Priority!!

Leaking Toilet

I had been putting off calling a plumbing company about my leaking toilet, but today I decided to take care of it after receiving my current water bill. I called Priority Plumbing and was told that Steven would be able to take care of it for me today. Steven arrived on time, and even wore booties to protect my floor.
I thought that my toilet could be repaired, but in the end Steven explained to me that it would be cheaper in the long run for me to replace the toilet with a more water efficient one. He even told me that I would be eligible to receive a $60 rebate from the City of Toronto. I thought that was great! The whole thing took about 4 hours and now I don't have to worry about high water bills anymore! I will definetly recommend them to all my friends and associates.

Clogged Bathtub

I called Priority Plumbing today because my bathtub was clogged and wasn't draining properly. Greg arrived this morning on time, and was very professional. He even called when he was on his way so that I didn't have to wait next to the phone.
Turns out the bathtub was clogged with hair from our showers and baths, and he suggested putting a screen in the drain to collect all the hair so that the bathtub drain doesn't get clogged anymore.
I thought it was a great idea and bought one from him.
I will definietly call them again if I have any more plumbing problems.

Hot Water Tank Leak

I called Priority Plumbing yesterday, and Mike came over to fix my hot water tank. There was water everywhere! Mike was very professional and helped me calm down. He told me that he would fix my problem in the next couple of hours and he did! He replaced my shut off valve, then told me that the whole tank was shot. He then suggested that I call the rental company and see if they could replace it for me instead of purchasing a new one. I so glad he suggested that, the rental company came within 2 hours, took one look at the tank, and agreed that it would have to be replaced.
So thanks to Mike, he not only fixed my leak, but he also saved me $2000.00!
I would definetley use Priority Plumbing again, and will be recommending them to all my friends and family.

Plugged Toilet

I called Priority Plumbing last week about my toilet. My daughter had dropped something down the toilet, and it was stuck.
Steven arrived within the hour to fix it! He was prompt and very polite. The price was little more than what I expected to pay, but Steven made up for it by being so polite and explaining everything to me step by step. I even signed up for their membership. Which means that even if I have to call them at 3am, they'll be there for me and I won't have to worry about paying their emergency after hours fee.
The entire experience was great. I will definetly use them again.

basement waterproofing

I hired Priory Plumbing to waterproof my basement. Initially I was very excited as they seemed very professional and customer oriented. Unfortunately the results were not what we agreed upon or even in accordance with the building code dictating the bare minim standards.

I realized that something was wrong about half way through the job when I noticed that weeping tiles, as agreed upon (and as the building code requires!), were not getting installed. When I called the office, the explanation provided was because of the sandy soil the weeping tiles were not necessary, they could clog up and potentially cause more problems. I may not be an expert, but I believe that a plumbing company providing waterproofing services should know how to install weeping tiles even in sandy soil. Even more surprisingly, Priory Plumbing claimed to be saving me money as the weeping tiles may need new connection to the drain. I am not sure why was that not considered or explained in the initial quote? Regardless, I strongly believe that before somebody at Priority Plumbing made the decision not to install the weeping tiles, I should have been consulted and given the options, and the ultimate decision not to install the weeping tiles should have been mine. After all, I was the customer paying over $8,000 for this job.

Although Priory Plumbing failed to inform me that they have made the decision on my behalf not to install the weeping tiles, please note that they did not have a problem to call to inform me that a service of an electrician would be required to disconnect my air-conditioning unit. I am not certain why this was not included in the initial quote as the air-conditioning was always there. I was charged additional $400! I strongly doubt that disconnected 4 wires is really worth $400. Furthermore, my objection to the outrages $400 price tag was justified by Priority Plumbing that it is the price charged by the electrician and not Priority Plumbing. Well, I find this even more insulting. In my opinion, Priority Plumbing should be more selective to whom they subcontract their electrical work. It appears to me that the main focus here was not I, the customer, but the electrician, another dishonest person taking advantage of me. My question why the additional $400 charge is not reduced against the services not rendered, the cost of the weeping tiles and the labour associated with the installation, unfortunately went unanswered and my credit card got charged extra $400.

In conclusion, I feel Priority Pluming has not delivered what was promised, I got fooled by the excellent communication skills and the pretence of professional service oriented company. My job was half done and Priority Plumbing even found a way to charge me extra money for it. I certainly would not trust them with any future business.

Dear Viktor,

As explained to you previously, the reason the weeping tiles were not installed was because the drain that we need to connect to for the water to drain away is plugged. We would have had to break the floor in the basement, dig a trench and replace the pipe inside the house, costing you thousands of dollars in extra work. As much as we would have loved to earn that additional revenue, it truly is not needed in your situation. Because of the sandy soil conditions of your property, the water naturally drains away into the ground. Unlike clay soil were the water does not get absorbed into the ground, in which we would have advised you to do so.
The weeping tiles cost us 65 cents a foot making the total cost of the material $34.45, hardly a cash savings on our part. We were looking out for your best interests as knowledgeable and experienced waterproofers,
and had we thought the additional expense to replace the drain would have benefitted you in any way, we would have informed you. It is true that with a sand soil type area, the weeping tiles plug up with sand, so you would have plugged weeping tiles connected to a plugged drain line, serving no purpose whatsoever. I asked yo if you wanted to replace the drain and you said no. I do agree with you 100% that you should have been consulted either way, and for that I offered you to install them as we do offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. I never once hesitated to do so, in trying to make you happy. You did not want us to install them and you did not allow us to make things right for you, so it's important that readers know that we stand behind our work. Furthermore we spend hundreds if not over a thousand dollars in additional materials and labor parging your wall, to ensure that your job was 100% watertight, something no other company would have done and it is unfair that you say you got a job that was half done when the installation of the weeping tiles serve no purpose in your case, take about 1 hour to install, and we spent an additional day to seal the wall above and beyond the call of duty. You never asked me to offset the cost of the weeping tile and labor associated with it, otherwise I would have refunded you the $35 even though we more than made up for it, with the additional concrete work. As far as the air-conditioning unit is concerned, we had to hire a licensed air-conditioning company to come to your home, disconnect not only 4 wires but the refrigerant line, then come back and re- install the unit. Dealing with refrigerant requires a licensed and professional company. I would be more than happy to show you the invoice to prove that we did not make a penny off of that service. I have no clue where you come off of calling the air conditioning company dis-honest. Your credit card only got charged after you authorized the payment for the $400 as we had a signed agreement to do so weeks in advance. I can see being upset if we were not a company of ethics that stands behind our work with a 100% satisfaction guarantee, but when we offer to install the weeping tiles, and are not given the opportunity to make things right, I don't think it's fair for anyone you or us. I do not see how you can question our trustworthiness after trying to make it right for you, or make it sound like we are after more money when our intention was to save you money.
