Let me start off by saying that I work for a competing home builder in the surrounding area. I kept seeing signs for townhouses in an area that I know is exploding with development. My wife and I tried buying home through the company I work for and we were constantly getting the upsell. Trying to move us in to a home we can't afford to get more commission.
We went to the mattamy sales office in creekwood in April of 2017. Met with Adam the sales person for the area. Very casual. We explained what we were looking for and he showed us two pre-built spec homes ready for sale. We loved the unity model we saw initially. Put a deposit. Boom. We just bought a house... or so I thought.
We weren't able to customize our appliance package. Not the end of the world but we had two choices. No appliances. Or all the appliances. We didn't need a washer/dryer. But needed everything else. It was about a month of trying to sort it out. I spoke to several managers and, We were left with a washer and dryer we didn't need. That was literally the worst part. I sold them on kijiji for a little less than what they were worth. No biggie.
Adam also forgot to upgrade our appliances to stainless steel. Instead of doing nothing and letting us have dated appliances, Adam sent me the money for the upgrade from his personal account to cover the closing costs at the lawyer meeting. That's customer service!
I found a few deficiencies at the possession that the site super Jesse scheduled fixes on immediately. They were done within the week.
The one month warranty inspection was conducted on time and by a very helpful tech. Our closet door has a weird imperfection so he had it replaced.
Our one year warranty is coming up shortly and they've already emailed about that. Coming from a company with notorious warranty issues, this experience has been wonderful. Overall.
All the people we dealt with through mattamy have been wonderful to deal with. Adam, (totally forgot the sales assistants name, she was great too), sales manager Chad, site super Jesse, and the occupancy lady (forgot her name too)
Having said I work for a rival, the cost comparison is unbelievable. A townhouse with my company was 50,000 more and had ugly cheap finishings. We got vinyl plank flooring and quartz countertops through out. Just amazing.
