Interlocking work on my driveway and backyard

Hi everybody,

I am in same page as the rest. Got my contract signed on May 16, had the foundation done around July (yes July!!) and I am still waiting for the work to be done (my house look like a construction site for the last 3 1/2 months). Even the contract says that the job will be done no later than August 9th. I finally got the interlocking delivered 2 weeks ago, but no news from Jesse, Gregg or anybody else on when the job is going to be done. I feel frustrated and I don’t know what to do. Every time I call their office, I get a lady saying that she doesn’t know when the job is going to be done and she can’t pass me to anybody else (this is when I am lucky and they answer the phone). I have already paid half of the work so I don’t think I have any option other than wait but I can’t believe how this company doesn’t care about their customers. I hope somebody from Loc Tite reads this site and do something about this because this is not the way they should run their business. Anybody checked for legal options or talk to consumer alerts?

Interlocking for my drive way expansion

Hi,
Careful before signing up with this company. Absolutely irresponsible. No plan, no dates and no committments. They mislead you to finish the work in 3 weeks and take away the deposit. I paid deposit in mid July this year. They dug the area but not laid any interlocking bricks since mid Aug. Now I see all the weeds are growing in the dug area. Looks very ugly. All summer is gone and I couldn't access my backyard as they removed the steps. Couldn't do BBQ with friends or family. When called (several times), 99% of the time it goes into voice mail, which is quite often full and can't even leave a message. They have no clue when the work will get done. No date yet ! Very very frustrating. Caution to new customers to do your due diligence prior to sign up. I wish I have read the reviews prior to signing up. I am sure there are 100s of customers like me out there who paid deposit in good faith and regretting now. Please voice your concerns now. Make it louder!! so that at least there won't be another victim like us.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Have a better planning manager and not take any jobs that they can't deliver
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Do due diligence and never pay in advance deposit

front door interlocking patio

Sadly I didn't know about Homestars before I hired this company. My walkway was done but about 1 month after one of the steps was loose and tiles from the side fell off. I had to fight with them to come back and fix it. They came back but after they "fixed it " the stones were loose again and they refused to fix their work. Now the pavers are all starting to fall off and the step fell forward and I called in another contractor who told me they didn't use the right glue! My neighbor also used them and her entire landing has sunk and all the stones are falling off. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Expanding driveway

Nov 3, 2014 Follow up review to
Aug 21, 2014, Richmond Hill:

In September, 4 months after the order date and one month overdue, they dug out some ground, dumped some stones in and left two huge piles of tile on the edge of our lawn. Another 2 months later now, the grass under the tiles is dead and still no work...THAT'S 6 MONTHS. Lots of unreturned calls and excuses. I suspect they knowingly took on too many jobs to collect people's deposits and lock in their business. I'm thinking of reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. UTTERLY VERY DISAPPOINTED. RECOMMEND *AGAINST* HIRING THIS COMPANY.

Previous review (Aug 21, 2014):
Paid 10% deposit beginning of June, told there'd be a 1 month wait. Now nearing 3 months wait, never started work. Lots of excuses. This company takes people's deposits knowing work will not be done in a timely fashion. VERY DISAPPOINTED. WILL NOT RECOMMEND."

Approximate cost of services:
$3,800.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Keep in touch with customers to update progress if late. So not take people's deposits knowing work won't be done in a timely fashion.

Interlocing Stone

Signed the contract in June, was told it would be done in 3-4 weeks... 12 weeks later job still not done. So far no communication from them, however when I called the person that I signed with Foti he never called me back . When I called the office the secretary was rude. Two weeks ago they came and started the "job". They dig out my front lawn, cut my Rogers cables and left without notifying me about the damage they done.. No customer service at all.

Interlock Patio and Front Path

Although we had similar delays that everyone else faced, I had engaged Gregg and he kept me the loop and made sure things got started. Once they did, Mitchell and his crew did a fantastic job! they took their time, were very polite and did the things we asked. It was worth the wait!

Retaining wall

I hired Loc Tite to complete a retaking wall. I was ensured that the work would be completed by 30 Days. I had to give deposit...which was fine. 80 days later (nearly 3 months) I finally got a hold of the receptionist, she was extremely rude and stated that they have 90 days to begin and at that time they will dig a hole and return a few weeks later to complete...so in total if I was lucky it will all be completed within 4 months of signing. She refused to provide me with a refund. I cancelled the job without a refund as I was afraid to see the outcome.

Driveway extension, Path to backyard and work completed in the backyard.

Please see the email I sent to the owner of the company,

Long story short, DO NOT USE Loc-Tite!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gregg,

It is sad that I have to result to emailing the owner of the company to actually get any action or assistance from your company. I require your assistance, in regards to recent work completed on my property ASAP.

Before even signing with Loc-Tite, I empathized the importance to Tony of having this done in a timely manner as we have our house warming and engagement party occurring within the next week. He assured me the job would be started within 2-3 weeks, 3 months later the job has just been finished. I am a reasonable man and totally understand that weather greatly impacts the workload, so that isn't even my compliant. However our engagement party is around the corner and even though the job has been “completed” we are having issues with the work that has been completed. Please see below;

First and foremost, The wall in our backyard, built by Ryan is falling apart, not even three weeks old and the entire thing is falling apart. I have texted and called both Ryan and Tony numerous times, Tony has not responded once….Ryan did text back saying he would stop but, now as we approach week 4 and no one has come to fix the wall. I also spoke to the receptionist at your Richmond hill office, who was rude to me and extremely rude to my wife. She was yelling at my wife and blaming her and saying things like Lock tite is responsible for the work and actions provided by your employees….. My wife also mentioned we might seek legal action and she said go right ahead you have been down this road many times before….Once again not professional at all…taunting my wife and mentioning you have been sued many times…. I did check home starts after and this that this appears to a common theme with the receptionist.

The second issue was the weeping tile, that was ripped out by your excavation crew. I under stand mistakes happen and Ryan did repair the weeping tile, however he did not re-grade the weeping tile with the proper downward slope, which resulted in an entire Saturday in my garden, where I had to re-dig and re-level to ensure proper downward slope was all along the tile. To add to this issue Ryan and Tony both assured that they understood that I have a storm drain in my back yard and when they would build the wall to allow for proper water drainage. As you can guess this has not been happening and water is pooling all over my yard and going back into two of my neighbours backwards, as well as pooling in my backyard.

The tree ring in the front of the house was built in a speedy fashion and I saw Ryan not apply any epoxy or glue. We have many small children in the neighbour and I would hate for one of them to jump on it and a tile falls out, these are things that should of not been missed.

When the crew was using the tamper to replace before applying the grout, they cracked three tiles, which I had to point out before they grouted. Ryan was good about replacing them, however after he replaced them, he grouted and watered down the driveway. The next day I saw that the bricks used were almost black and did not match or come even close to the grey brick used on my driveway.

I also wanted to make mention of the fact that the contract mentioned my driveway was to be done with a grey border and a beige interior. The crew did not check and did half of my driveway, when I came out to check I mentioned to them that they had the wrong colour they finally went over to the contract and saw that I was right. Being the nice person that I am I decided to allow it, as I needed the job completed ASAP.

Lastly, it is sad the amount or time and energy I have had to waste to get any traction at all on this, why should I be wasting my free time in the summer hunting you down. We will be having almost 200 people passing through my house next weekend, I hope I can at least show them a proper fin al product, if not I will ensure to tell everyone all about the work that was provided to me. Currently, I am not left with a satisfied feeling and not happy that I choose lock-Tite, I hope you can work with me to change that feeling.

Front patio

We hired locktite last year and it wasn't that bad so we rehired this year to finish the front patio, driveway and one side of the house. We signed 26th March they promised 3 weeks and they started 2 and a half months later. The sales person Foti never answered my call again and their Secretary is the rudest service person we've ever dealt with. Ryan did the job. He did it fast and was good but didn't returned to pick some left over stone. They promised to fix the grass that the sitting stone killed and never came back. When the railing guy started installing the railing one of the slab broke and again the secretary was rude again and they didn't fixed it. We called 3 weeks ago to get some stones changed and they promised 6 to 8 weeks to come. Today we called about some cracks in the polymeric sand and the secretary again said it was our sole responsibility to redo it because according to her "they don't do polymeric sand" so again the conversation turned extremely rude. Sincerely I do not recommend it and even more so because of their secretary and sales person with such bad customer service and unprofessional behavior.

interlocking

Signed the contract in early May, was told it would be done in 3-4 weeks... 13 weeks later job still not done. So far no communication from them, however when I called the person that I signed the contract with several times they never called back. When I called the office the secretary was rude and when I asked for my deposit back, I was told that they were within their 90 days to start the project and that someone would come and start the job next week. So they came and started the job, however it's been over a week since that happened and now I'm really starting to loose my patience since all they did was dig up the grass and fill it with gravel. So 13 weeks in and the job still isn't done.
