Kitchen Renovations

What started out as a relatively large project, re-doing the kitchen, then quickly turned into a renovation nightmare. Shoddy contractors led us to complete the job on our own, which in turn led us to Home Depot - the supposed king of everything reno. Yes, we were able to find all of the materials we required, but had to do this totally on our own. The amount of employees that are in Home Depot would lead you to believe that help is plentiful, but this was not our experience. We were always at a loss to find anyone free to help us with questions or concerns, often spending much more time than expected wandering the store for anyone wearing a smock.
In the end, we learned all we needed to know about renovating a kitchen, but never really want to do it again on our own.
Thank goodness for [competitors names removed-- Ed]!!

All my home reno's

I have and continue to renovate my century home. From backyard deck and fencing to new bathrooms, laundry room, and kitchen. Not only is the pricing of their materials competetive but the advice (and I ask for plenty) they give is always informative and helpful. With their help and I made my own custom countertops, tiled my bathroom floor, and installed my own plumbing and drywall. These jobs would have been much harder and longer to complete and probably more expensive if it were not for the help I recieved.

Painting the house interior

Pam works at the Home Depot and has very exceptional taste. She helped us to pick the colours for our whole house painting. We were having a difficult time picking the correct colours, but with Pam's help everything feel into place. We brough materials and pictures of our house to facilitate the process. She is wonderful.

bathroom renovation

We redid our bathroom and then later actually started to work on the kitchen as well. Home depot had everything that we wanted and they were very helpful. They ordered us the shower door that we wanted and helped us with the vanity purchase and fitting.

changing kitchen light fixture

i wanted to change the lighting fixture in my kitchen, the problem was that the ceilings are 14 ft high and there was some electrical work involded. i inquired about the cost of having home depost send someone out do such a job. it turns out that the cost to send someone out to do such a job was $300+ and this did not include the cost of the light fixture. my recommendation, find an alternative. which i was able to do. i found a light fixture that i could simply put on top of the existing light (after removing the existing lighting fixture minus the light part)

Shed

My wife and I purchesed the Jardin Vinyl Shed at the Home Depot Ancaster Location. Service is always excellent at this particular location. The Jardin shed we purchased went together relatively easy and I put it together myself with just a quik hand by wife with the larger pieces. This winter however during the latest heavy snow storm around mid march the wait of the snow caused the roof to sag and the walls to bulge out. Nothing collapsed and the walls went back to the original state however the roof is still sagging. We will see what Home Depot will do about this issue. So be forewarned to clean the snow build up from the roof. As I normally do but that is a tough thing to do during these types of storms ...and should I be doing this anyway ... I dont think I should have to worry about it. Thanks

Renovation - product supply

Great knowledgeable help. It made my DIY project a snap - complete kitchen, two-piece bathroom, flooring. The service associates taught me what I needed to know for plumbing, electrical and tiling a granite countertop!
