I was beyond impressed by the El Cheapo team. It was the first time I'd worked with a Toronto moving company, and though the plethora of bargain basement options were tempting, it proved to be great decision to pay a little bit more for El Cheapo. It should be noted that the rates were actually still quite low, and the office staff were even willing to cut my rate because I only needed to move a few items. And all of this for a weekend move during the busiest time of the season (End of April).
I also encountered a number of communications issues on my end leading up to the day of the move (a finicky cellphone) and the staff at El Cheapo were beyond helpful in helping relay information and accomodate my changing situation. And AGAIN, this was just for a couple items, a very small job in the grand scheme of things.
On the day of the move, the office was extremely helpful in coordinating the truck-team with my location (given that I was picking up items from an apartment that wasn't my own), and it was an added bonus to see that 3 guys showed up with the truck, instead of two. A FREE bonus on the part of El Cheapo because they had the manpower on hand.
The 3 movers were extremely friendly, worked quickly and knew exactly what they were doing. They treated my stuff well, and were completely up front about the contract, start/stop times and outlining where additional fees would occur if we went over the estimated time. But of course we didn't, as they worked very quickly and what we'd estimated to take an hour actually took less than 40minutes. Great service.
Anyway, I can't recommend these guys more, and though my move was small, I have to assume the quality of service translates to larger jobs. The company has a great team, and a big enough fleet to ensure service on the day of. The terms of the deal were always very transparent and it should go without saying that I will be using El Cheapo with any future moves I do in the city.
Don't be thrown off by the name! This is a confident and reliable company that doesn't need to hide behind craigslist ads with ridiculous claims, or use lofty adjectives ('Executive" "Premiere" etc) in their name. They're not the cheapest-- that's reserved for the high-risk, bargain-basement companies-- but El Cheapo is certainly still very affordable, and I'd rather pay just a little bit more for service I can rely on.
I highly recommend them. Kudos.
