This may be a little wordy but it is worth the read!
My partner and I purchased a beautiful house in South Surrey about a year and a half ago, knowing that we maybe had one year remaining on the original 1989 cedar roof.
Well springtime 2011 came and so did the raccoons, creating a hole in the very soft and aged cedar shingles. (funny enough, just like the picture on the DC Roofing brochure!).
It was pouring rain, 4pm in the afternoon, a Friday and the Canucks were in the first stages of a play off game. In a panic, I got ahold of my neighbour who is a contractor. He made one call to a "contact" and honestly, within 10 minutes, I was speaking to (son) Chris Chomenko, one of the owners.
Unbelievably, he coordinated an employee, Jason, to leave a work site in Langley and 30 minutes after the phone call, Jason was at my door, then scrambling up onto my roof to assess and temporarily patch not one but three raccoon created holes!(Did I mention it was raining!).
Fast forward the story: Dale Chomenko (father)came by a few days later and conducted a thorough roof examination, providing an excellent estimate for a full roof replacement with a quality 40 year ashphalt laminate shingle.
Dale spent a tremendous amount of time "schooling" me on roofing materials that would best suit our long term needs. He was not pushy at all and with the type of service received to date (including the emergency repair), I was perpared to seek no other estimates. This was my kind of company for the job!
Within two weeks, with the product on site, the DC crew show up, lead by Jason and his incredibly hard working partner "Eddie". They began the job in the pouring rain, using tarps and coverings.
Our house has a lot of roof area. Each day, the roofing team worked extremely hard. Their work was very efficient; no corners were cut. At the end of each day, the crew cleaned our yard, loading debris into the bin and also magnet "raked" the lawn area for any stray nails.
Within a little over a week, Jason, Eddie and the other DC Roofing crew transformed our house from having a worn and weathered roof, to a home that had solid and durable (and walkable roof) with stunning curb appeal.
Chris Chomenko kept in touch as the work went along and personally conducted an extensive inspection once the work was completed. He noted a few areas for further addressing and this was promptly completed by Eddie.
I cannot tell you enough how impressed I was with all the dealings I had with DC Roofing. From the emergency response to the estimate, actual re-roofing, clean up, take away and follow up; I rate every stage 10 out of 10.
If anyone is considering a re-roofing job, get several estimates but be sure to include this company. They may not be the cheapest but that shouldn't form your final decision. You want an honest in-depth estimate, education on what is the best roof for you. You also want a family oriented company that only employs reputable crew members that are skilled, efficient and accountable. Further, you want the work to be performed thoroughly and within the time frame and cost figures identified in the estimate.
DC Roofing rates full marks on every aspect. Marcie and I could not be happier and will only recommend Chris, Dale and the DC Roofing team.
My neighbour who had initially called Dale for me said that [he] "...has referred DC Roofing to clients for years because they get the job done right!"
An added note: While the crew were working on our house, I happened to notice that a racoon had created a large hole in the garage of our neighbours across the street. They were not home at the time. I pointed this out to one of the DC roofers and he went over and patched the roof without hesitation.
I do know that my neighbours have since had DC Roofing over for a full roof replacement estimate and I believe are now in the planning stages for a new roof.
